If you have an Ollie's Bargain Outlet near you or another bargain retailer that gets Walmart's Hart brand, I just got the equivalent for $39.99. Works great with a harbor freight 6 inch wire wheel they just put on clearance for $2.99 each.

This is definitely a step up in quality/feature with variable speed, just broad information for the average home DIYer.

If you have a lathe- the variable speed is required to be able to sharpen tools without effecting the hardness by overheating them during the sharpening process.

I also bought a Delta grinder in the 90's and have used it twice since then. It sits unused next to my also unused scroll saw, adjacent to the never-used radial arm saw Smilie This post reminds me that I urgently need a Facebook Marketplace account Smilie

got one of these on clearance a while ago. nice bench grinder but be prepared to balance the wheels if you care about it running smooth.

Delta was still good in that era but it's not the same brand. They were sold to Black & Decker in 2004 and then a Taiwanese company in 2011. Today, it's mostly just a legacy name slapped on lower-middle end tools and most tools get pretty mixed reviews.
I bought the 8" model of this grinder from Woot a year or two ago for $130 – it spins the discs and variable speed is nice but the gooseneck barely holds the light up. Honestly, the Harbor Freight probably would have been a better deal since it at least has LED lighting.

Hahahah! Absolutely My man-card stipulates that I must own all tools, even better if I can own more than one of each
