Product Description:
  • LED display screen allows for easy temperature setting and reading in Fahrenheit, enhancing convenience to maintain perfect conditions, ensuring reliable and consistent hatch success with minimal effort need to buy an additional temperature hygrometer to monitor the incubator.
  • Automatic egg turning system, mimicking natural conditions (Optional automatic turning frequency: once every 60, 120, or 180 minutes). This improves hatch success by turning eggs at the right intervals and stopping three days before hatching to prevent over-turning.
  • External water filling system allows you to add water without opening the egg incubator, ensuring a stable humidity level throughout the incubation cycle, and improving the hatching success rate.
  • Built-in candling feature that allows you to check the embryos during the incubation process, helping you to monitor their development and identify any potential problems at each stage.

This 18 egg incubator is aimed at hatching fertilized eggs, with auto turning, temperature and humidity control, and a transparent dome for watching progress. It has been used successfully for chickens, quail, ostrich eggs, and even balut style eggs, and the larger capacity is handy for hobby batches. The main caution is that grocery store eggs usually will not hatch, especially if they have been washed or refrigerated, so fresh local fertilized eggs work better. Temperature setup also matters, with 99.5 degrees and a steady calibration check coming up often.

Things I want but don't need... will never need. What would I do with the baby chicks once they arrive? Put them with the baby frogs and kittens that always appear out of nowhere? Then while away my days watching them interact and write a clever bestselling children's book? Bring back the magic of life on this beautiful planet? Maybe I DO need it. I think I DO!

Will this work with peacock eggs?
For 2 decades my neighbor down the road (rural area) has had peacocks. For almost 2 decades I wondered what that odd noise was. Recently my nephew and his girlfriend went for a long walk and found out the guy has a menagerie of animals and that sound was peacocks. It's a loud, haunting sound but it's sporadic. Sometimes I don't hear it for weeks. Before you get a peacock, listen to that sound.

It's easier to just buy chicks, narrow it down to have hens and one rooster and most if not all your eggs will be fertile. But buying chicks or eggs, you may end up with quite a lot of roosters. It is not economical to raise hens for eggs in CA for me, their lay feed and upkeep costs more than buying eggs at costco. They're slightly healthier, but you can't really feel that, but you do feel when you have to clean out the coop etc etc. Most places you can't have a rooster due to noise ordinance and limits. It's quite a rabbit hole to go down. You build the coop, you built the lay boxes. You buy the feeders, you realize they're dropping a lot of feed, and you get rats, you might DIY a feeder, then you buy the fancy feeder they step on for $150. Then you buy different products to sprinkle in the coop to reduce the smell. It's super dusty. It's all worse if you have limited yard space, and no roaming space. Maybe because i didn't hold them much when they were chicks they always ran away from me when I went into the coop. We finally had to give them up based on the work and cost. Also not all hatched chicks make it. Some will hatch weak and dont make it, or if they're extra wobbly you need to isolate them or they get trampled. But then they're alone so they cry. You do observe the whole circle of life though. My flock killed 2 teen chickens I introduced once....

I asked someone that uses something like this. Expect about a 60 - 65% success rate for healthy chicks that live beyond 2 weeks with from local eggs and proper care. (Higher rate with a "more profesional" system.) Only purchase local eggs. Shipped eggs give a very low success rate, even if shipped from a farm 250 miles away. Cant find local eggs? See if any of the local high schools have a 4H/FFA organization and ask the teacher.
