See photo of NSF Standard #2 (American National Standard For Food Handling Equipment) marking on the bucket.

Per NSF:

"NSF/ANSI 2-2025 covers the minimum food protection and sanitation requirements for the materials, design, fabrication, construction, and performance of food handling equipment. Such equipment includes bakery, cafeteria, kitchen, and pantry units and other handling and processing equipment like tables and components, counters, tableware, hoods, shelves, and sinks, among others.

Considerations in play here include the smoothness of angles and corners in a food zone, the usage of fasteners, latches, hinges, and the cleanability of various components for sanitation. These concerns, as well as many others, are outlined in the NSF/ANSI 2-2025 standard."

This is an excellent DEAL. Buckets are NSF (food safe) and made in USA. Whats the best place to get lids?

Great lid option...only $13 for green. Makes the bucket great for storing water and air sensitive items. I use these to store brewing grains.

Gamma lids are available for Menards for $7, if a store is in your area.

The best lid for these buckets is Home Depot LD5GRLBK006. You can buy just one or economize and go for the 576-pack.

It's a two piece screw top lid. Food safe like the bucket.

And if you think the outer ring doesn't fit on the bucket, you are wrong and you need to start gripstrengthmaxxing. It fits.

Gamma lids are available at Menards for $7.

If you have one bucket that contains 2 gallons and another bucket that contains 7 gallons, how many buckets do you have?

Interesting, I've only seen them at business center, not at regular Costco in my area.
Can confirm I've seen them at some regular Costcos, only some though. Good thing I have a few within 20 minutes drive.

I usually just find my plastic buckets laying along side the road. LOL

I just got a response from Costco:

"Item 3535111 is NSF Rated, but it is not food-grade material."
