If you have one brand of bumpers do you ever mix and match for another brand? Or you anal that it all has to match and be same brand?
I mix as a set. If my first plate is everyday essentials 45lbs. Both left and right are the same. Of the second is flex wave 45lbs. Both left and right 2nd plates will be flex wave.

i have some of the colored bumpers and i cant bring myself to buy other ones if they dont match colors. i wish i would have went with plain black ones but i just dont like the confusion on different colors when it comes to what should be easy plate math, buying the 55lb ones already screwed up years of 45lb being the heaviest for me

Lol even though the 55lb are a deal I just can't buy another pair of 55lbs. I got the all black set with color writing but now I want and should have got all colored ones so now buying these to have more. 55lbs are way too thick. Need more 45s

Honestly the biggest problem with the 55's is their weight.

I have such a mix of plates. Have 2 sets of the 55lb bumpers and then a ton of the old iron weights. Will be grabbing more bumpers but am pretty much overloaded with plates right now.

Does anyone have these? How bad is the rubber smell? I had to return the essential ones to Walmart because it was so bad .
I wiped them down with simple green, waited and then washed them off. I found out this trick when I was researching stall mats which off gas is way worse.

It probably reduces the smell by 85 percent while it off gasses

I kept my essential ones outside to air out for a week and the smell is gone. Didn't even wash them or wipe them down. I suspect all of these dirty cheap bumper plates will be the same.
These lower cost bumper plate use recycled rubber instead of new vinyl so the off gassing of VOC fumes is bad. I washed with Dawn dish detergent a couple times, then with Dawn PowerWash spray a couple times, then with a standard cleaner spray, always using paper towels to wipe the black "soot" off, left them in sun for 2+ weeks, and the smell is less, but still evident. The black "soot" still comes off so I wear full gloves. For the garage it won't be a big deal, but I have them inside the house so I aerate the room if I notice any smell.

Would I buy then again? Yes, because I'm a cheap SD-ler... sigh.

Maybe because of inflation now, but there have been past SD for 50cents/lb.

And sometimes you can negotiate a deal on your local used items website for that or less. I picked up a slightly rusty set of iron weights 10, 25, 35,45lbs, with 3-spoke-and-handles design used outdoors, for free because they were moving. A little primer and silver spray paint and they are my primary weight plates.
