This is a great deal, but I'd suggest getting the "extended reach" version of this instead because there are often times this still won't fit (especially when working on a car) but the extended reach version will. I bought this combo last time it was on sale and its a great price, but I still had to buy the extended reach version later to get to a bunch of bolts that this couldn't get to, so now I've wasted $130 on this combo since the extended reach version can do anything this version can do and more.

I don't understand this combo. Who needs a separate, full size, non-extended 1/4" ratchet? Make the anvil swappable or use an adapter.

They have another pair where both are extended, also silly. I guess you can buy this, sell one, and buy an extended (or buy both pairs with a buddy and swap).

I got one of these electric ratchets years ago (3/8 version) and I tried to use it a few times right when I bought it but it never fit where I needed it or didn't have enough torque. A 90 tooth ratchet is so much better for 99% of people I believe.

Yup, these Ryobi ratchets are too big and bulky esp with that 4.0Ah battery. Milwaukee just had a deal for a M12 FUEL 3/8" for $160. I missed it because it was a one-day deal. I would take the Milwaukee over these two combined.

A 3/8 to 1/4" adapter is so easy and eliminates the need for an entire tool. Seems like you are paying for a lot that just isn't needed.

Yeah...you said it, the 18 v bulk makes sure you're not getting into tight spaces. I have a Milwaukee and it's the right idea. I recently bought Bob Villa's 3rd choice 3/8 with two batteries. KIMO brand, works pretty nice for $60.

The 12v (stick battery) versions tend to be a more compact, and probably lower on torque, but it doesn't matter because you use them as unpowered ratchets to break fasteners loose (by hand), then apply power to spin them off once loosened (or vice versa for tightening).

Wal-mart sells a combo pair of 12v Hyper Tough, extended and non, for pretty cheap.

I don't suppose those use standard Milwaukee 12V batteries? They look similar in the pictures.

Of course not, all proprietary. The only match I know is between 20v Hyper Tough and Northern Tool's Klutch (the latter has 6 & 8ah that occasionally go on heavy discount).

And Etsy/Ebay have 3D printed cross-brand adapters for the 20v bricks...not sure if that's possible for the 12v stick batteries. But the 12v HT are so cheap it almost doesn't matter.

They have a non extended reach with a swappable anvil but I don't believe it's brushless like these two are.
Because Ryobi batteries are very bulky and extended reach brushless with swappable anvil would be the ideal electric ratchet which doesn't exist currently.
I have the original (not HP) 3/8 and I have used it pretty extensively but it can get tricky at times getting in tight spaces hence the rotation head comes in handy. It did shear off stud on my tundra fan clutch was pissed as I didn't think it was strong enough for that but boy was I wrong it just didn't without stopping at all.

I bought last month works really just changed my brakes on my truck so fast and the high power battery is way more powerful lasting with all my Ryobi tools. Brushless are tools are better motors last I have many extensions I just attach them in my toolbox.
