I bought the Greenworks push mower on exactly the same advise a few years ago, replacing a gas self-propel, and this was a stupid move. Still looking for decently priced self-propel 80V which this one definitely isn't.
There were 2-batteries Greenworks slef-propelled deals for under $300 in the past, but for now this is an OK deal.

Kobalt's 80V self propelled mower is being treated as a strong cordless option for yards that need more than a basic push mower, with clean cuts, good power, and noticeably quieter operation than gas. The shared 5Ah battery system is a plus for owners who already use Kobalt 80V tools, and the mower is described as easy to use once the rear wheel drive behavior is understood. Battery life is the main watchout, especially in thick grass, hot weather, or larger yards, where extra batteries may help. The deal also drew price adjustment and rebate chatter that could bring the cost down further.
The battery system can share across Kobalt 80V tools like a string trimmer.
The battery charging setup can include a fan that helps keep the battery cool.
The self-propelled drive can produce clean cuts with sufficient battery life after break-in.
The mower can be quieter than gas options during operation.
Battery performance can drop quickly in tall, thick grass and may require more batteries.
Battery longevity can be shorter in hot climates, with some units failing around two years.
Price adjustment outcomes can be inconsistent, including cases where a $409 purchase could not be adjusted.
The self-propelled rear wheel engagement can require getting used to during operation.

All my equipment is gasoline now. Anybody know about how long the batteries last before going bad? I live in a hot climate that tends to eat batteries for lunch. Even car batteries don't last more than about 3 years here.

My yard is less than 1/4 acre front and back. Overall, it took me 2.5 batteries to finish everything. So when I am done with the 2nd battery, 1st battery normally is almost charged up. If not, I still have the 3rd battery not used yet. I am overall quite happy with the system.
I assume the non-push version will eat battery faster, but it could be really helpful in the brutal Texas summer for me.
This was an 80v self propelled mower w two batteries. Mine was brand new, batteries were great. is my backup mower for the slopes if the tractor's doing something else, as this outclimbs some other civilian gas mowers I've tried when it gets steep.
