These used to have Samsung 25R cells, now they use EVE 25P cells that get much hotter than the Samsung cells. These packs are all parallel wired so each cell need to provide the sauce or they overheat.

The older version of these packs with the plastic battery level button are what you want. Newer packs will not run a chainsaw or a mower without getting too hot. Saw triggers an over current and shuts off.

I assume these cannot be used for blower where the battery is smaller. Correct me if I am wrong.
The grooves are the same on the extended 5ah and 8ah batteries so they will fit in the same equipment provided there's enough room for it to stick out, which most have since the battery end is exposed to the air. I'm not sure I would want to put an extended one in the string trimmer and carry it without a strap, but you could. Here's the 5ah in the mower where you can still close the cover even though the battery extends farther out than the 2 and 2.5ah.

Any of the 80V Kobalt batteries can be used in any of the 80V Kobalt tools. However, performance may differ. This battery should work perfectly in an 80V blower, but might not perform as well in an 80V chainsaw.
I have 80v 2.0 Ah, is it ok to get 2.5 Ah?

The 5ah shows both ultimate output and plastic button.
I ordered one last month on March 22 when it was on sale, and the stock picture is inaccurate. Here's a pic of a 4ah and the 5ah I picked up, you can see they are both plastic buttons but a different design.

Thanks. You have the newer kind. The older style have a non-integrated plastic button. Maybe the 2.5ah is the older style..

I used the 2.5Ah in a blower and got about 10-15 mins use out of it. The 4Ah ultimate output battery is much better and last much longer. The 2.5Ah might be better for something like a string trimmer or chainsaw.

Anyone try this with one of these batteries? I don't mind printing this and I do really need another battery. Looking to use on my Greenworks mower.

the pic shows plastic battery button. are you saying these are newer (diff from pic)? thanks for the tip.
Thats correct, the ones in the listing are old versions, newer ones have the captured buttons that are flat.

Look along the side, vents, Light green are Samsung cells, medium green are EVE, and the red cells are Sanyo.
Samsung>EVE>Sanyo

So is the 2.5ah theatrically a better battery? It appears to be the older cells.
