Yea, if they lower it another $50 or $100 I'll try them out.

Theyre really good for Vocals but you will need to buy a base to pair them with.

That's why $500 is not great for them---for the same money you can get a pair of passive speakers, a mini-amp with a high pass filter and a starter sub and enjoy better sound plus never have to worry about internal amp dying on you in X years leaving you with a pair of expensive doorstops. The only advantage of these KEF speakers is pretty looks and initial setup convenience.

i did, my local costco had it on clearence for 400.00, not the normal pricing. i dont think they really worth 400, at least before i could get a subwoofer with it.

$500 for a pair of speakers, amp, AND subwoofer, that sound better than these? Yeah...no.

Yes. Douk A5 mini amp, ELAC B5.2, Dayton or Monoprice 8" sub. Not as pretty but far more capable.

I bought these after seeing reviews that said they compared to ls50. I had ls50 before that I sold. I kinda figured when I ordered they wouldn't compare, and I was right--they don't. Not even a little bit.

There's no point in buying a sub if your budget is only $500.
You shouldn't be able to "hear" a properly set up subwoofer as it should only handle frequencies below 50 Hz, and it rarely produces any sound. Might as well spend all that money on the passive stereo speakers themselves and an amp.

I used the lsx with my TV for awhile. If you want good bass I recommend a sub crossed in at about 80-100 with the lsx set high passed.

You will hear the sub alot (but hopefully not localize it)and would definitely fill in the sound. These have very limited useful output below about 70hrz. At low volumes or at a desktop you might be good with 2.0. or as in my case I just wanted better TV sound so these did that.

The concentric design help for TV use as well since if you lay down or sit bolt upright sometimes you get good vertical evenness.

These are physically very small by hifi standards so convenient where other options are not. They have great sound for their size and convenience factor.

I think these are worth the $500 and at the same time they will disappoint folks if expectations are too high.
They are not unbelievably good or something along that line and do require a subwoofer in order to provide what some users are really looking for. Even then they are not going to fill large spaces with big sounds. These are tiny hifi speakers.
