I would go with the M5, better single core cpu performance and multi core cpu performance. 30% better per core GPU performance. that might still enable some slight gpu performance advantage for the m4 given the two additional cores but it won't be much, like single digits and it impacts efficiency.

The difference is negligible since the M5 8-core GPU is a newer chip.

Because pricing an m4 $50 less than a m5 is stupid.
Some of us are looking for actual deals, and they just keeping only offering this bs. Last Black Friday, Amazon resale offered the m4, current generation at the time for around $500 for this base model in like new condition. No one would ever buy the m4 $50 less than the m5, so just give us an actual deal

i really wish i had pulled the trigger on the M5 for $599 on best buy but my M1 is working flawlessly so its hard to justify to upgrade.
