only difference I can see is rear light attachment point built into stretch rear fabric on new. rear stretch not securable on new. rear compartment has full zip accessibility on new versus side accessibility on this one. new one likely less durable since probably not made with outlawed forever chemicals.
overall, this version might be the better version of the pack
