Wow, never seen a combo like this and the global eSIM makes it interesting. The question will be home much is data going forward.

4G limits the utility of this device. Good for emails but in my experience a lot of networks have downgraded the bandwidth on their 4G towers

The power bank function is worth $20-$25 at most. Which makes the 4g function massively overpriced at $37 - $42 considering how slow it would be
and only 20gb

Cannot find an LTE band list, always a red flag for likelihood of getting the best signal. All three US carriers are pivoting to 5G first networks right now.

You cannot load your own eSIM and their international data plans are pretty bad. If your phone supports eSIM, you can find much better plans on esimdb.

So I have a few Baseus power banks and they're all great - very good quality, have held up over the years. I've got x2 of the rectangular bricks like this one that just do charging, got them at like 40 USD a pop back in the day.

If I traveled more would I spend a 20 spot to have the 4G functionality? Sure, it'd be worth it depending on how long I can hang onto the code so I can fire it off when necessary.

There are times when my 5G phone hotspot just isn't cutting it and I'm in the soup, and I just need a trickle of data to get through the issue. Having this in my bag as a battery first and foremost and that parachute pull as a secondary is worth the 20 bucks IMO.

Yeah, it seems pretty confusing. I think it's 6 months of data given a video review on the amazon page.

But is that for US only? Or international? Like I'd completely pick this up for a trip abroad as the promo data is far more valuable than the battery itself IMO.

Also, looking at the pricing plans, day rates seem to win out over all other rates most of the time. Weird.

This seems like the worst backup 4G ever. It's an embedded esim, with no way for you to change it. They control the esim plan. So basically they're putting a cheap cellular chip in a battery, upcharge you for the battery+4G hotspot combo, and then hoping some dumb Schmuck will pay for the 4G service in the future that's way more expensive than if you look for a esim on your own.

It's so very easy and cheap to buy an esim and load it onto a spare phone. That's way more reliable than this thing. The network speeds on this thing seems horrible, because they're using the trash bin cellular chip with limited channel support.

I agree with you if it were my only backup. But when I travel I have my phone for that exact purpose. So for a backup of a backup wrapped in a device (power bank) that I use anyway... it seems worth the 20 spot. If it took up any space as another device absolutely not, but I'd absolutely be using this as a power brick until that one moment where I needed it to double as a hotspot.

I main a US iPhone so am stuck with esim regardless, and I don't travel enough to cart around a burner, but I always have at least x2 power bricks with me. What I find is that I may be stuck in a hotel where my phone isn't doing it, but another device does cut it for whatever reason. ...and most of the day rates on this thing is 5 to 6 USD for 4GB so after I burn through the promo offering, that's not a bad deal IMO.

The 30 bucks for 20gb over a month or whatever is for those relying on a device like this for a week or a month at a time and that's bad value all around, but I wouldn't be using it for that. Just to get out of of a situation for a few hours or a day or two in certain circumstances seems on a long trip - everything else I'd sling from my phone hotspot.
