The charger feels like something they're shoveling in to make the bundle seem more worth it, since the inverter can charge the batteries already.

I'd feel better about plugging the charger into a generator to charge the batteries in a sun-down/grid-down situation.
Generator spikes, kills the charger, NBD. But if it takes out the inverter...the bodies in the freezer start to thaw out.

If your powering a shed, and dont have power, or solar physically at that location. You may need to use the charger (With a generator, or the house) to juice up the batteries on occasion. Makes sense for a variety of use cases. If you have a solar panel or 10 on the roof, it makes sense with the inverter keeping them topped up.

Ehhh it's a long stretch... Rather than run a charging cable from the house to the shed, why not prop up a couple 400w solar panels on the ground around the shed, or on top of it...
The charger is maybe suitable for a thin sliver of use cases

I don't necessarily see the point of the charger either. The inverter has an AC input which will absolutely charge the battery.

If you need to charge the batteries from a generator in an emergency situation, it seems like you could just as easily run a generator cable to the inverter.

I bought this combo years ago. The white inverter solar controller requires a large minimum voltage, so its not a mere few panels and youre good to go. You need at least like 6 or 7 panel to get the minimum voltage.

But like the person above said, the inverter will charge the batteries from AC input anyway. Why would you want a separate charger.
Only case I can think of is when youre on the road with your RV/mobile home, and you need to charge your batteries quick from an EV outlet at Walmart or something else. But the batteries aren't portable so can't imagine anyone would travel with these

"they say" dirty generator power is bad for inverters. Could be true, or not; I dunno. But I know my generator makes my UPS'es mad, so I'd be willing to believe. I've also heard that the inverter will hunt around trying to sync to it. I'd imagine the real answer is that it depends a lot on your generator :-)

Not sure that is accurate

The inverter has the following stats.....

MPPT Voltage Range125-425VDC

That means you need a minimum of 125V to run it

If you use say a 400w panels, that has a voltage around 40v ......or more

So 3/4 panels would be sufficient

And if you went to a 500w panel, 3 would be more than enough
