I have the hotdog version. It's a pretty meh controller. I'm not a fan of its d-pad, and the L1 and R1 are pretty tiny but stick out so they're not hard to find.

here's a better controller, but it's more expensive. GAMER20 code works on this to save $7

I have the 8bitdo version of this and it's my favorite Switch/2 controller. It was on sale for $30 at the time. I had to pug it into my laptop to update the firmware for Switch 2 but it was really easy.

I feel bad knocking a cool looking controller, but I picked this up the last time it popped up and didn't like it. It just feels cheap / too light, and isn't comfortable to use besides. I was hoping to be able to pocket it for a "On the Go Phone Controller", but didn't even like it for that. ;?

Currently using a snes controller over usb but want something wireless for d pad games. Sounds like the 8bitdo take on this form factor is the better way to go?

Hell yeah.
And props to third party controllers using hall effect, let's push first-party to implement it instead of their sh*t potentiometers.

To those looking into 8bitdo rather than Hyperkin (which you should because Hyperkin is so bad that it's ignored in enthusiast circles), also consider the 2.4GHz version if it's compatible with your setup. In some cases it's better in terms of latency than the Bluetooth variant.

Either way, to my hands an 8bitdo SN30 feels just like an OG SNES controller.
