I scrambled to find one phone in the family whose imei was accepted by their damn website. They sent a sim in their activation package, I activated with the loaner phone, moved the sim on day 1 to the supposedly incompatible phone (moto edge 24) and unsurprisingly it registered and worked immediately.

I did not try the following, but I am pretty sure I could have activated with the supposedly incompatible phone too. Which means any imei that I find on the internet and happens to be accepted by their stupid site would have gotten through the order phase.
Thank you for sharing that. I read online that a store rep helped them by using a random iPhone IMEI to issue a sim card, which they were then able to insert into their Razr to use it. The only reported issue was visual voicemail, but I don't care about that. My local store refused to do this, but the manager said a non-corporate store might be willing to do it. Instead, I found an IMEI generator and used a random IMEI to get through their compatibility check. I was then able to order a physical sim card. Wish me luck!

The moto phones are so good, and then you use them and they have incredibly invasive apps. There's at least one or two that you CANNOT force the system not to enable. REally upsetting for such good hardware.
Which apps are you referring to?

If you're okay enabling USB Debugging, this is the solution..vlYou can delete almost everything that you don't need,

I always use FX File Manager on my Motos.

Still wished there was one that has a rename multiple files function like the old ES File Manager.

Anybody have experience with porting Google voice to Metro? I unblocked my GV number and going to use Phone # as an account, port out pin as voicemail pin. Some say the Metro may requests address associated with GV # which 1600 "something" Moutan View CA, bla bla. Anything else needs to be provided?

Phone # = Account Number. Voicemail Pin = PIN, ZIP varies, I just did my own, others suggested 00000. Address doesn't matter just zip. Then once the phone comes in call the metro porting department and tell them the port didn't go through all the way (tell them whatever is the issue with the line, i.e., typically you might be able to make calls, but not receive them, send texts but not receive, etc. the port will probably be incomplete because they need to do it from their end) and mention that the port is a landline immediately after giving them the phone number

If the rep fails to do anything or says some bs like "we cannot do it" hang up, call again until you find someone who actually knows what they're doing. Might take a few tries, might take none. For me it was none, all she did was push the port through then I got an email from Google Voice saying that the port is happening, and immediately after Google Voice no longer had the number I was porting in on their website, which I found confirmed the port fully went through and the line was 100% working.

Tried a couple of hours ago. No issues except that the payment did not go through. For security purposes, please call 1800 bla bla. I called them to make a purchase, set up a new account, and talked with the Port-in department. They cleared the system and assured me that everything should go smoothly from now on... I was transferred back to the sales department. Everything seemed OK until the payment did not go through. I used the same card on my other account because that's the only card I was able to use for a purchase two months ago and yesterday (I got a tablet with the plan). They told me there was a security lock and asked me to call back in two hours. 🙄.. That's the second phone and they want me to call-in. Tablet purchase went fine online, and one bring your own phone line I was able to get online. But no luck purchasing a phone online. Have to call in

idk about that... i thought calling in CS would help to fix that problem and they encountered the same message...then call mysteriously failed once they said they'd help me get it fixed...twice. i think its a blacklist or something odd, people suggest using a completely different device...browser...internet connection, and that worked. the only solution i found was making a brand new account but then that results in you paying the full price.
