The Annke 8mp version (FCD800) was 2 for 129 like a year ago (and are still 85 a pop right now on Amazon). While Hikvision is a great brand, there's a ton of cheaper rebadged units typically.

Interesting.
This unit uses two 1/2.5" progressive scan CMOS sensors

I'd pay extra to get the 8MP ones with the 1/1.8" sensors, its like $50 more but worth it....

Pretty sure the 1/1.8" versions are about double their equivalent 1/2.5" versions?

I bought DS-2CD2387G2P-LS for $184 from ebay, i've posted deals before but they kept getting deleted but definitely shop around and you'll get it for around that.

Oh yeah, I think they're pretty picky about what eBay sellers they'll allow posts about because they can only verify major ones are legit (and also that posters aren't shilling for the companies) but good to know, for the money I really like the FCD800s I got, they've stretched the capabilities of the silicon pretty far these days so even the smaller sensor cameras are still pretty good, but obviously there's no replacement for size if max quality in lower light especially is your goal.

I purchased the Annke FCD800 a month ago for $67 on sale. Works great with Synology Surveillance station. Thought about flashing the firmware with the Hikvision but you don't gain anything and actually lose a feature if I remember. Anyway, the FCD800 has great clarity although no color night vision but it is 8mp (dual 4k cameras).

I bought that too! Did you get IVS working? There's no line crossing or region detection. I flashed the hikvision firmware but that didn't change anything. Not having IVS is terrible, especially for pet/animal detection.

FYI this company is under US and Europe sanction
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hikvision

This model was approved by FCC before the 2022 cutoff date, so it's legally allowed to sell in the US now. but FCC is moving to ban even these legacy models.

so this is a model few years old. it's being cleared out by sellers. it's software patch will stop in March 2027.

Wow, that's a great sensor size. $220 is pricey but seems worth it for the sensor. In cases where ppl don't need the dual lens/sensor wideview pana, this would be great to get. I prefer these dual lens/sensor cameras for front/back but for something like a front door camera, this $220 camera would be awesome. I'll pick it up for my next house.

These things seem pricey but considering how much ppl spend on reoccuring costs like burglar surveillance Cove/Simplisafe, Wyze subscriptions, etc. they can quickly pay for themselves after just a year.

I'm going to play around with Frigate this weekend. Wasn't impressed with Synologys motion detection. Bought a Google Coral USB to offload the detection from the cpu.

I thought the Coral USB was discontinued and not supported years ago?
I'd like to keep the event detection processing on the cameras rather than increase CPU overhead. Probably wouldnt be an issue if I bought a Coral or GPU but inconvenient.

Isn't this brand banned in the U.S. due to concerns about forced labor and human rights violations in China?

Works just fine with the Coral. I wrote a guide on how to get it setup and going on a Synology with Docker - https://zigbeedeals.com/install-f...coral-tpu/
