The midsole on the 1040 keeps getting thicker. It's too thick IMHO. Makes the shoe heavier as well. The rocker is too pronounced as well.

Dude!! I got them today and these things are crazy!!!! So light and like walking on a cloud. Honestly It was weird I felt like I didn't even have shoes on my feet. Hard to explain but like a extension of my feet wearing these. Unbearable, I'm hooked!

If you can find them cheap try the x More. Even softer than these. I have both the 1080 and the More, and the More's are my go to for comfort. 1080 is not far behind though. I have gone through about every super soft shoe and like the more better than Hoka's.
