I haven't used the one with the camera, but these are super impressive when paired with a head unit or watch. Being able to see how many cars are coming up behind you, as well as how rapidly, is so nice when compared with trying to watch over the shoulder.

Got one on my road bike. The rear light and radar are both awesome and the camera is just nice to have in case I ever get hit by a car.

Best bike accessory (have non-camera one). Audible cue is best part. Openear headphones, magsafe mount on handlebar, ridewithgps on phone.

I also have the one without camera and I'll say I don't think it's worth buying. Don't get me wrong. The radar is immensely good at what it does. But knowing a car is approaching from behind me doesn't really do anything for me--a car is pretty much always approaching. My behavior isn't changing. The radar does not actively or passively contribute to my safety posture in any meaningful way.

The varia is the best tool one can buy. It doesn't replace looking over the shoulder but allows one to be comfortable on the road knowing that no car will blast right past you.

Great concept but Garmin is kinda behind. This is an old release with only 1080p video, and it hasn't been updated. 1080p wont always be enough to catch the license plate of a car especially at night. There are a lot of clones out now with higher resolution video or very similar smart features that connect to any cycling computer. If you feel like you need a device like this definitely do some research, theres a lot of great competition out there around the same price point or cheaper. Chinese brands have caught up in tech and quality, so for a device like this, the garmin name doesn't mean much compared to something like their satellite communicators.

I have the light only version as well and it's one of the best safety devices you'll ever buy. Drivers with their phones are as distracted as ever and PDs don't have the funding like they used to catch them.

This device catches the attention of drivers and when it comes to safety, every bit helps.

I agree with the other poster about video quality as it is a problem esp car is going at speed. With that said, a lot of cars don't carry front plates so your video has to capture the driver's face too. Tall order.

$150 sure $300, no ty.

You must be living in the future because currently most Chinese products are flimsy and break after a few months.
