Definitely not. Other than DSG, I've never seen anyone beat REI's clearance section.
Also, none of the outdoor gear shops let you return items , usually.
It's very hard to compete against the giants.
I've found better prices frequently at independent smaller shops -- which always made one question, if they can make it work, why can't REI? And even if the stuff was the same price or within a 10-15% increase, I'd almost always want to support the local business.

I haven't needed to return something unless there was something genuinely wrong with it. I don't know what someone is doing buying something, using it for a year, and then returning it? That seems incredibly dishonest.

This is not a unique problem to union workforces.
I think the point the person is trying to make is that in nonunion workforces these people can just get fired without any red tape, but unions protect both the disenfranchised and lazy all alike.

This is not a pro or anti-union comment, I'm just saying that I think you're misunderstanding the intention of the comment you're replying to

Everything will be at least 20% off on one item. There maybe some exclusions though. In the past, I have placed multiple orders to workaround the 1 item limit.

I'm so tired of REI selling clearly used items as new. That's why their return policy is a year. They put it back on the track to foist on the unsuspecting. Definitely don't order from their online shop. It's worse than going into a second hand store.

But that wouldn't fit his narrative, now would it
