Perennial reminder that these will butterfly open if you do not zip them up completely. The laptop then dumps out, often destroying it.

Good to know. Thanks.

I would still have bought it except I don't think my 18" MSI Raider laptop would fit in it.

Has anyone bought this backpack and tried to fit in a 18" MSI Raider laptop? It has to be a Raider model as it's probably thickest of all MSI laptops besides Titan.

Picked this up recently, but I've noticed some reviews saying the quality isn't what it used to be. Curious what others think — is it still a good buy?

That's good to know.. how do you zip them correctly? I generally notice its better to zip them together toward the side instead of the top, where the pressure is at.

The zippers run to the bottom so that it can butterfly on the airport scanner. As long as it's fully zipped there's no problem.

The issue is the time you forget, leave it 25 percent unzipped or more, and it unzips further while walking. Now instead of it just floating open, gravity will pull the laptop 180 degrees to the ground. All that is holding it then is the small laptop velcro, which cannot handle the acceleration.

The compartment where you store the laptop is NOT the same section where you butterfly open the back pack. The laptop compartment is closed by a half zip. Unless you are putting your laptop in the wrong area, it is not going to dump out. Further, if it did butterfly open on your back, the laptop section would remain upright. I've had a version of this backpack now for 17 years and never had an issue.
