Probably close to 20 years ago, I offered to buy a kid a watch. She said she didn't need one as she had her phone. She's now 30 & still has no watch. Man, I remember getting a watch when I was about 10 or so, in the '50s, & it was a big, big deal back then. Now, not so much, so I suppose perhaps watches ain't selling like hot cakes these days.

About 35 years ago one of my dad's brothers, the first in our family to travel to the US for work, got me the black Casio calculator watch as a gift on his return. I was 10/11 year old. Meant the world to me. Still have it ☺️

Watches are back in vogue. A lot of people ditched the smartwatch. I'm seeing lots of analog and digital watches in the office.

I haven't owned a watch since maybe 2000, quit wearing one when cell phones got small enough to keep in a pocket. I do remember being around 8-10 and lusting after the Casios in the Service Merchandise jewelry display. I distinctly recall wanting a DBC-600 real bad. It wasn't water resistant so I ended up getting something that was (DB-30?) because I'd killed my 1st calculator watch by water, an Armitron Piano Game I think it was. I guess the generic calculator watch design of this is more recognizable, but my nostalgia side would be more interested in a remake of a classic like the DBC-600.

I remember a similar data bank watch (wasn't silver, was black from what I remember) back in the day. If memory serves me correctly, top left and bottom right button triggered the PIN entry to the "data" and I thought it was so cool back then! Glad to see these making a comeback!

Besides, my wearable fat-shames me for not closing exercise rings anyway.
