Passmark for this processor is ~20000. Not bad but there are better. IMO the 14 inch Walmart Zenbook with the Ryzen AI 7 350 and OLED for $979 is probably a better machine for the $.

IPS screen and not OLED - touch screen which is nice. Intel WiFi and 5thunderbolt is a good addition. Solid machine.

Great Costco 2 year warranty and 90 day return policy.

Do you have any idea on the Intel ultra core 9 processor on this machine, at least the ones that i saw in Thanksgiving '25 acer deals had throttling issues due to poor thermals?

I don't. They are fairly popular in many high-mid tier systems.

I truly regret getting it about a year ago. I can barely open chrome without it heating up extremely. It's also extremely slow. Specs look good on paper but my old Dell i5 works faster and stronger without overheating.

A certified refurbished model on eBay is going for around $650. Great way to save $300.

It's really hard for me to recommend an Acer machine over $600. They have definitely improved over the years, and their hinge issues that plagued almost all their models 5-15 years ago have been reduced greatly, but the PCs often have poor thermal solutions like you describe, particularly with their mainstream Aspire series when a higher-wattage CPU is featured. Their Swift and Travelmate series have a better reputation, and higher prices to match.

Acer is one of those OEMs that pack great hardware in a poor package. Exceptions exist, but you are usually better served by the big 3.(HP, Dell, Lenovo) I put Acer a tier below MSI, particularly MSI's premium options. Samsung and Microsoft generally just sell premium products now, and Asus sells a wide array of products that vary in quality.

That said, I recommend going into the store to check these things out in person. Costco and Best Buy are great for it. Try the keyboards out in particular.

I recently got the Vivobook Copilot plus. It's similarly spec and I expected it to be a significant upgrade over my 5 year old LG gram with Intel I5 and only 16 gig but swear it's slower to open apps, browse in chrome. I really don't get how. So far very disapointed. And the oversized trackpad is just silly and steals from keyboard space. I rarely return stuff to Costco but am co suffering it

Did you check updates center and activate antivirus? Mine was like that in the beginning but runs fine now.

I have the i7 32gb version and my laptop is a rock solid high performing machine. No issues at all. I did perform a complete reinstallation of Windows 11 from scratch when I first received it though. YMMV with all the preinstalled Acer crapware.
