when will it be unlocked? - Exactly 365 days after the day of first activation
would it be unlocked after 1 month of use? - No you have to wait for 365 days but dont need to pay for service after the first month
would it be unlocked in 1yr if i cancel subscription after 1month? - Yes. Technically, there is nothing to cancel since it's prepaid. Just dont opt for autopay and ignore text/email notifications to top up

Nice! This phone seems great for reading with its matte, paper-ish screen. FYI, I there's also a $40 web exclusive plan, but the price goes up to $120 in cart. Go with the $50/55 plan for lowest price.

So I'm finally jumping on the deal and I noticed it says up to 4 phones for the promotion. Is there a limit of how many promotions you can partake? Or how many you can partake per year?
I want to grab this phone and maybe a Samsung. but I already got 2 razr 2024 last year.

So hold for a second… as of today, July 16, 2026, the metro web page says exactly:

$50/mo. with AutoPay $55 for first month Plan

To me that means you will be in a contract to pay $50 a month. I also see the wording that says "autopay for first month". But there's still the other portion. Are you telling me, short of blocking them with my chase bank, they won't bill me $50 a month automatically?

It wouldn't be worth the 12 * 50 = $600 even it if I slap my T-Mobile SIM card in this knowing that it works from other users.

Can anyone shed accuracy on this?

Just turn off auto pay in the metro app and you're good to go. Only need to pay 1 month at full price, but phone will only unlock in 12 months

Metro limit is 5 devices per account. I hit it and then chatted with CS to remove 2 devices, ordered 1 more successfully

Anyone have charging issue? I'm upset right now. I either got a faulty cable included (hopefully) or I need a new device. It charges fine with older cable but fast charging with the new cable causes the device to just constantly disconnect and reconnect to the USB.

Edit: Nevermind seems to be the shitty Anker 140w charging block I bought that cost more than the phone. Ridiculous. Good news I can charge their branded powerbank and then use the powerbank to charge my phone fast charging.
