totally apple to orange. Shokz openrun pro is open style -- you will hear anything around you besides music, your ears stay open. The Bose one is to block all the sounds from the outside so you can focus on your music.

I'm a big Bose fan. I have the gen 1 and the gen 2 of these earbuds. Both have great noise cancellation and audio quality. However, both also have a big design flaw - they output a static / buzzing sound on the left earbud that can be heard when no audio is playing. I've reported this to Bose multiple times and the customer service reps acknowledge this is a know issue. It bothers me, but, it may not bother you.

Been using these for almost 2 years, they are so good, thinking about getting these just for backup. I just can't go back to AirPods pro or anything else anymore.

I would not recommend these, and I was a Bose guy. If you use these headphones, or any Bose headphones for that matter, they will have issues just outside of the warranty. I have owned several headphones from Bose: QC35 II, , QuietComforts, Ultras 1 and 2, QC 25s. All of them broke just outside of warranty. I got a replacement, and those broke a year later. The headphones are built to break. You can't get the headphones serviced post warranty through Bose. Instead, they offer you a discount price for another pair in exchange for your old ones. I am officially off the Bose train.

How they will break: the adhesive holding the headphones together comes off and/or the sound in one of the ears goes out.

I agree with your comments, same experience here.
However you're getting these from Costco with their return policy.

Personally have had Quiet Control, Quiet Comfort and these two pairs of Ultra Gen 1.
no issues with first two. One Ultra gen 1 did stop charging (something wrong with the case) within a year and was replaced by Bose under warranty.
Ultra 1 seems confused between connecting to windows laptop or iPhone and drops. But if I only have it pair with iPhone works fine. Noise cancellation is great on aircraft.

Does anyone have experience with these AND the Sony WF-1000XM5?

Those are on sale for $150 at Woot right now. I have the over-ear versions from Sony and they're amazing, so leaning towards keeping it in the family for the earbuds. But don't want to spend the same for worse!

I've tried both. Although the XM5s take some playing around to get a good fit for noise cancelling, their sound and app EQ was better than the Bose for me.
The Bose was more comfortable feel wise, but for some reason they would get pretty hot when noise cancelling was on which meant I could only wear them for an hour or so. Ultimately I went with the XM5s.

Its use less to order from Costco! I order twice and costco canceled them twice, Idkw. I don't think they have this any more.
