This is 36V not 48V. The picture is a lie.

What evidence do you have? But if so it would make for a very easy dispute

Oh my, how do you know that? I bought this exact same scooter last time it was posted for my kid. how can I validate? What's the implication of it having a lower voltage?

I purchased this last time was posted and for roughly $200 bucks this isn't bad.I wouldn't however recommend this if you ride on any hills, it doesn't have the power to take you up and even if you zig zag up the hills its gonna be slow. If you're planning on riding on flat streets and trails it's great.

Also you will need to adjust the brakes since mine were so loose it they were dangerous . I purchased as a last mile commuter for.the train and it's small.enough to get on and off but I have too many hills near my house to recommend this purchase again

Do you have a better recommendation? Also, were you actually able to adjust the brakes? I think it's a common problem with these (including mine) and I'd like to either fix it or get a better one (ideally, with air tires as this one has solid tires and is still bumpy despite the shockers).

If you aren't happy with it, you might just try returning it. I got one at the last sale, wasn't happy with the acceleration and saw that there was a satisfaction guarantee. Shipping it back was a chore, but the return was otherwise easy. I put a dozen or so miles on it

I doubt that. How fast does your ESMAX go?

It would be very easy to check from the voltage listed on the charger. A 36v model would list 42v, a 48v would list 54v.

I paid $670 for an Ausum L2 Max and it's in another league.
Before that I tried the Niu KQI3 Pro for $380, which has a 350 Watt motor and top speed of 20 mph - sluggish and couldn't do hills.
Then tried the Apollo Go (paid around $500 for an open box unit on eBay) with 2 of those 350 watt motors and 28 mph top speed - much better but still struggled with hills.
Finally went with the Ausom L2 Max (purchased last Black Friday directly from the company website for about $670, tax free and free shipping) with its dual 1000 watt motors and 40mph top speed - now hills are a breeze, even if I don't use the absolute top speed. it has 3 different speed/efficiency settings:

1. eco: for max range, tops out around 18 mph
2. sport: 30 mph and plenty of power for hills. the balanced setting which I use 98% of the time.
3. race: 40 mph and perfect for when you want to feel rapid acceleration and wind on your face. just invest in a decent helmet.

These cheap ones are ok for small children or very lightweight adults, but struggle with typical US adults. And forget about going uphill.

I want a foldable, light, well-made (not fire hazard - legit company) scooter that can carry 250 lbs, got to ~25 mph, and tackle hills. Range? I only need 2.5 miles round trip. Of course nobody makes a 2.5 mile scooter, but anything that meets the other specs will have no issue with 2.5 miles. Basically, it would make grocery runs possible without a car, to a location where walking is dangerous for part of the journey but going 25 mph on the street would be better.
Any suggestions?
