I have this, it's an old design. I bought mine 5 years ago. That said, it works fine. You can get newer/faster wifi 6 or 7 routers from TP Link for less than $100

It's not bad. Underpowered to run a vpn on. I got it on clearance for $25 at Home Depot back in Oct 2025.

If you are in a major crunch pick it up, its a good entry level router. That being said like everyone else mentioned you can do better for probably $75-$100 when on sale with something else. This router was as low as $25-30 long ago.

Let me fix that for you....

"Prosecutors in the Department of Justice's antitrust division are also investigating whether TP-Link engaged in predatory pricing tactics, which involve selling goods below cost to wedge out competition, according to an April Bloomberg report."

Or in short Asus, Netgear, and other router lobbiest are paying their congress person a lot of money so they dont have to compete on price with TP-Link.

The cyberattack spin is nothing but a joke and cover up, as the same attacks were carried out by other brands routers as well just in smaller amounts since they dont sell as much as TP-Link, so it has ZERO credibility.

The more you know!

So they're being investigated both for leaving backdoors and dumping? Saying one is true so the other isn't is a bad argument.

On top of that - tp-link has never been one of the good companies anyway - not in my top 4, 7, or 10.

No, saying that TP-Link is leaving backdoors when ASUS, NETGEAR, Linksys, and all the other major manufactures have the same back doors is a joke. There is nothing in a router that ever justifies its price point and TP-Link keeps it as close to reasonable as possible. Also what you call dumping is nothing more than fair pricing for some people. Paying over $300 for a router is stupid when it costs less than $80 to make in almost all cases.

Really, who says they have backdoors, you? They aren't being charged or investigated for anything.

Ahh no genius, Microsoft/DOJ/ any website that tracks spyware and router issues tells me that. I love you know nothing guys that jump on threads to spout nonesense when you know nothing.

Do some reading, its going to be good for you. But here is the short.

Yes, as of early 2026, thousands of ASUS routers have been affected by a,persistent, "unkillable" malware campaign similar in nature to threats targeting TP-Link devices. Researchers identified a botnet composed of roughly 14,000 devices—primarily ASUS routers—that are highly resistant to standard reboots and firmware updates, effectively acting as a "backdoor" for malicious activity
