Unless it's directly from Apple, you'll either get a phone with a low battery health or an "Unknown part" error. Sometimes, very rarely, you get lucky; it's like playing a scratch ticket.

Got 2 Ipads 6th generation used apparently claimed refurbished excellent. One of them was locked to a school board, the other doesn't connect to wifi. Both through woot. Contacted their customer support, apparently they sell for 3rd party companies which this time was in NY. Ended up returning both. Also watch out for false claim of 2 years warranty. It is by emailing a Gmail email lol. Read the terms properly.
Purchased an Iphone14 grade A refurbished 2 or 3 weeks ago. It 'shipped' but never arrived to Usps. Been emailing back and forth since, now waiting for a reply and refund. Honestly kinda relieved that it was never sent. From what others have been posting recently, it's likely we'd have gotten one in bad shape. Dodged a bullet, and wanted to warn others to maybe look elsewhere.

Woot out-sourced those refurbished items to 3rd party vendors to get profits as a middleman. Each individual vendor's quality varies time by time. If you really want to buy it, make sure you check the original Apple warranty information once you receive the device. If it is out of AppleCare warranty, just return it.

I bought a iPhone 13 mini from Woot couple years ago and that thing was trash. It was sold as grade A refurbished condition. I would consider it a C- grade and that's being generous. Battery was like 81% state of health and the outside was all scratched up like crazy.
Bought one few weeks back and had many visible scratches and dents. Ended up asking for a return which they did approve. I bought a grade A condition last week instead
Any thoughts on how old to go for a kids phone? 11 too old/slow to be useful? Would be nice to get a few years out of it.
If you want a few years of use, I think an iPhone 14 is probably the highest value - once you go newer than the price jumps a bunch (although if you go a little newer you can avoid lightning cables)
