For those who don't know, you should essentially never put your TV on your wireless network. Multiple lawsuits (VIZIO specifically) have taken place for TV companies sending screen specific data back to their servers (what you are watching, when, even sending info about other devices on your network). A lot of TVs will not allow you to turn of wireless once you turn it on and connect it. It's more expensive, but buying a streaming device like an Apple TV or Shield TV is much preferred for a host of reasons.

Honestly, I've never been disappointed with Roku. I don't use TVs much, but Roku interface has been consistent and reliable across multiple TVs for years. I'm not sure what more I would want.

Was waiting for 85inch sub $600 for world cup. I may sit on it unopened to see if memorial day gives us something better.

To be honest, I actually quite like the Vizio OS, but mostly for the WatchFree+ app. It puts all the free streaming services (Pluto, xumo, iontv, etc.) into a single interface that mimics cable TV. The performance isn't great though. It's slow to switch between "channels", some channels constantly buffer (PlutoTV, namely all the CSI channels), and some channels are only available on the TV itself. The last one take sucks because I'd switch to an Android TV box since it performs much better on my phone.

Yep. If the TV I buy isn't Roku, I just buy a Roku stick. The roku media player alone is worth the price.

Depends on whether it's good or not. Fire bad. Roku good.

Is "QLED" some Best Buy made buzzword to make us think it's comparable to OLED?

It's odd how TVs are the one electronic that still get cheaper, yet they have stayed at 60Hz until you're in the mid-range category. Frown

Be sure to air gap all new TVs and put an Apple TV streaming device in front of it. Smart TVs should never have Internet access. They'll send screenshots of all your content many times per second, along with pictures of YOU and other metadata back to the mother ship to be sold to data brokers and otherwise monitized. You ARE the product now.

Right you are. I had just posted essentially the same message and then looked and saw you had just posted above me. I'm glad someone else out there understands this. Most are oblivious, or worse (esp gen Z and gen alpha), they don't care. Sad how growing with all this sh!t around them normalized it for them. It's not normal.

The quality and speed upgrade of a dedicated roku/etc is night and day. that tcl roku tv I bought, the remote felt like a toy and clicked so loud it echoed, haha
