Newb question, is pla good for anything besides figures etc because of the brittleness? I have a resin printer for figures. I primarily use my filament printer for practical prints...like my motorcycle helmet hook.
My opinion is that PLA is strong, it's more of a temperature issue with PLA. I have made and use assorted hooks, boxes, wood working squares, pretty much everything and it holds up well. If you want something stiff and strong, PLA is a good choice, if it's not in a hot place like in the car. Use PETG for that. I have made cup holders with PETG and it holds up to the CA heat, even in the summer. PLA I have made wreath hooks and hat hooks, even smaller backpack hooks that can hold 50+ lbs., I just used more walls and more infill and so far it holds up. I did have a failure once make a squeeze dispenser for flux that cracked after a few usage due to the presser on the lever, but that was at 15% infill with only 3 layer walls, I upped that to 50% infill and 5 walls and it's strong and stiff. I made the same thing with PETG and it flexes too much and does not transfer the pressure as well. Just my 2 cents.

I used both petg and pla from kingroon. Both print well but the pla will get brittle if you leave it outside for too long. Leave it in an airtight container with selica packages.

Yes, I agree. However, the reason I believe PLA gets brittle is because of the moisture. Those drying bins you can 3d print pieces for along with cereal boxes look really cool but I think they are just not cost effective. I like to use those bag with that you can suck the air out and put some real desiccant in there not those little tiny packets. Go to amazon and get like a 11 lbs. for orange color changing Silica Desiccant for like $40, it even comes with the pouches. You can also get bulk pack of those little temp and humidity sensors for a little over a dollar each. The bags with the pump are often on sale here on SD for like $14 for a dozen or more. I don't use more than about 20 different colors open at once, but each person may differ. Just fill those little bag with he orange desiccant just enough to fill the hold inside the reel and then put the little meter on top. You can see it through the bag right in the middle. That setup cost relatively less than making those cereal box storage bins and mine averages about 11% humidity inside the bag. Even if they are kind of wet coming from the manufacture, you can dry out real quick like that. I have about 20 bag setup this way that I've opened and still only used up like 1/4 of the 11 lbs. container of desiccant. On top of that you can reuse the orange stuff, just pop in the microwave, zap for like 3 minutes on low a few times until they turn back into orange and you are ready to go. Realistically when you microwave them you may loose a few pieces because they cracked in 1/2 but very very little, just use low power. Just my 2.5 cents
Correction: the meter I have only goes down to 10% humidity rating, it could actually be lower.

Great deal. $63 total once all taxes and coupons taken care of. This is my 2nd time ordering these. Make sure to dry it like others have mentioned. And the color on these are on the dull side compare to big name brands. These just don't pop or are as bright as others. Can't beat it at 6.30 per roll
What do you guys mean by drying? New to 3d printing

Look at my post above, sometimes the bags are not sealed and some moisture gets in. When PLA has too much moisture it becomes brittle and extreme cases causes some micro pops when extruding which can cause a lot of printing issues. When dried properly the print is smooth and not stringy.
If you need a basic guide, I can provide a little, but I'm sure we have mean experts in this forum.
