Pros
  • Outstanding SDR brightness.
  • Incredibly deep blacks with minimal haloing around highlights and subtitles.
  • Does a great job smoothing out low-quality content, with very little loss of fine details.
Cons
  • Can't reduce the intensity of direct reflections.
  • Distracting uniformity issues.
  • Image degrades rapidly when viewed from an angle.
  • Extremely cold color temperature out of the box.

Getting into projector territory with these sizes. Good to see this has outstanding black levels

Trying to understand why this is a deal. Just got a TCL 98" mini-led for $1500 two months ago. This is almost twice that price. Not a deal.

You are probably referring to the Costco deal on the 98" TCL. While that is a great price, this model is supposed to be significantly better in all areas than that TV.

I am assuming you bought the tcl qm6k pro, which isn't nearly as good as this tv. If the model works for you, then great, but this is a much better quality tv panel.

Wondering how much of the con side can be mitigated with calibration and/or firmware update at some point?

TCL QM6K - 98", 600 to 900 nits, ~500 dimming zones, 144hz native max 2.1 audio
Hisense U8Q - 100" 5000 nits, 6144 dimming zones 165hz native max, 4.1.2 audio including upfiring speakers, imax certified
Absolutely a deal for those that care about picture quality vs just a big tv.

This is 2 tiers higher in the 2026 line up than that one. This competes with the TCL QM8K, and you got the QM6K for that price.

Massive differences in overall picture quality between those two. Not all mini LED TV's are created equal.

I got the 98 QM8K and super satisfied, coming from an 83 inch LG G4 OLED. TCL is so good now, that Sony is actually partnering with them because Sony cant compete anymore! Sony and TCL announced a partnership in January 2026, with TCL taking 51% control of their joint TV venture!

Recently stayed in an Airbnb with a 10+ yr old TCL 720P 60Hz set, and it's insane how far they have come.

Do yourselves a favor and stay away. I have a U8K in 100 inches from Hisense and had pixel bleeding/cloudy white areas in the first year. While the warranty provided replacement, it was a cost for me to get the massive 200 lb TV unmounted for the warranty check guy who came and scratched(destroyed) the screen for a replacement to be shipped. Then more cost to get the scratched TV removed with junk removal and then getting the replacement tv back up on the 2nd floor and mounted on the wall. This whole process took about 45 days and made one of our rooms unusable for most of it since this huge and heavy "destroyed" tv was on the floor taking up the space. While Hisense replace it, we started getting the same issues with the replacement too.

At least our useless comments are trying to teach you that literally not one soul of this planet cared about your comment. Even know you won't listen you processed the replies thru your brain once at least.
