FireOS is the worst and most cluttered UI,but Roku also doesnt do sideloading and is more locked.
I figure it doesnt matter much if you are going to plug an nvidia shield other box in
Bought one. Thanks! For folks against FireTV, it's not that bad. You can side load apps, and pretty much do anything and everything you can with an Android based system. Worse come worse, you can always connect an external device. In my case, I'll get Apple TVs once the new model comes out.

Someone in another thread about a smaller tv said don't buy Fire tv's because they're locked down and you can't sideload apps.

Got the 75" from Amazon because they bring it in and unbox. Picture is incredible but the sound blew me away with the built in subwoofer. Hooked up the soundbar and immediately disconnected it that's how great the sound is. Fire doesn't bother me everything that I had reloaded just fine within a few minutes. Best part the 75 was 500 and I opened a prime cc and got 150 off with delivery and unpacking. So for 370 after tax im happy 😊
I have an older Samsung smart tv that is sluggish to even change inputs... it takes forever but otherwise we only use the xfi remote for cable and switch occasionally to the Xbox. Is the fire UI good enough to allow quick switching? Otherwise I have zero use for smart tv function and would love to just have great quality TV. The Samsung I have has tons of dark spots from presumably failing backlite.

FYI I also have the 75 and buyers should note the 75" is not using the same panel as the other sizes including this 85"
Shouldn't matter to much to mist folks but the 75" is an old man out so comments about the picture pertain only to it. Good news is that the panel in the rest of the sizes including the 85 is probability slightly 'better' overall vs the 75.
I wish I would have gone with 85" though as the 75 seems slightly small to me. I sit about 11feet away so really 80-85 (or even larger) would be better for me. Oh well, if this drops much lower in 85 I might go for it.
Man fire OS sucks though, just horrible. What a mess.

85" 144 hz MiniLED for $800 is a lot of screen for your buck. Hisense is also not a bad brand imo.
