Got a similar pair last time (not capped) and they are a bit thin, but comfortable. For $40 I'd say they are worth it.

I added code COLE15 and got another $6 off. So $34 if anyone wants to try it

Yes, they were high quality, but years ago.

I get that products aren't necessarily as good as they once were, but it lists these shoes as full grain leather...what's so bad about that?

I say that, as I wear my J&M shoes every day to work that I bought at the thrift store for $8 a pair.

I have worn Johnson and Murphy shoes for 30 years. They are not quite as good as they use to be granted. However, this is a very good deal if you can get free shipping....

It's extremely sad to see how far J&M has fallen. I used to buy their dress shoes along with Allen Edmonds years ago as they were fully made in the US and were well-made shoes. Once J&M stopped making their shoes in the US, I stopped buying them. Their shoes are now cheap garbage - the J&M brand means nothing anymore.

Very common for so many brands these days, not just clothing. All the brands have learned to sell to private equity giants whose primary interest is bottom line maximum profits and cheapest materials and labor. The brand name is just a name that is handed down as more of a disguise these days, not what branding used to be (that would suggest a particular level of quality and what you would expect to pay). These brands now keep their prices the same but use "shyte" materials and labor and the extra money just goes into their pockets.

Johnston and Murphy are high quality shoes. Thus us a very good deal for this quality. Thanks, OP.
Are you referring to the J&M from 30+ yrs ago? Those I agree are quality shoes.

Sad to say even Allen Edmonds' are a far cry now vs 12+ yrs ago. Switched to Septieme Largeur.

The funny thing is JM or ME (not sure who is responsible) lists these Oxfords and they're obviously derbies. That's like dress shoes 101.

Anyone have any suggestions for shoes still made in the USA?

$40 for a pair of decent dress shoes and people be whinin' that they aren't made by little old men with mouths full of tacks and hunched over cobbler's benches.

Nordstrom has Allen I believe made in usa. There are also several brands that are made in Italy. Be prepared to pay way more than $40 though
