Beware, choose replacements rather than refunds when using this promo/service. I came into the issue of choosing a refund for an item that was out of stock, and it knocked off the promo, since the total came down to under $100 after that OOS item was refunded....and I ended up paying $42 more than the checkout receipt stated. So $107.xx, instead of $65.xx

Customer service was super unhelpful, and even rude. Spoke to 3 different reps via chat and one on the phone and all of them refused to do anything. I've used instacart promos in the past and have never had this issue when my items replaced or refunded made the total less than the threshold.

Just a fair warning. Still can't figure out for sure why it happened to some folks and not others (seems most people actually paid less if an item got refunded, not more, and the store choice doesn't seem to be the issue)....but some others on the coupon group I'm part of on Facebook got screwed over exactly in the same way.....(one even chose replacements instead of a refund for her items, shopper refunded I guess in a haste, and same thing happened to them) so just thought I'd put a warning on here to make sure what they deliver comes up to at least $100, and add in a note insisting your shopper replaces anything out of stock, in case they're feeling lazy.

Same thing happened to me. For pick up. I had ordered $50 in steaks and $50 in regular groceries. Steaks were out of stock.

My pickup was discounted even with refunded items so I paid $34.92 instead of $50.01 when the items I selected to refund instead of replace were OOS. What your example/advice ("don't select refund, select replace") fails to account for is that often replacement items are WAY more expensive, so you could end up paying much more! That's not to mention that the replacement items are usually not what you wanted to begin with. Finally, this seems like an easy credit card dispute as at checkout in fine print it tells you the max they're going to authorize your card for (assuming you get weighted items). In my case it was like $57.xx. If they charged you more than that because OOS items knocked off the promo, seems like CC company/bank could easily step in. Obviously you took screen shots of every step of the ordering and checkout process, like we all do every time, so I don't see a problem here…

Screw insta cart, they used to mostly only charge the same price in store and then hopped on the grubhub model to overcharge for all items. Sam's club and walmart+ dont when online ordering.

It's an "ok" deal depending on which stores you have available for pickup in your area. For example, my local Fry's doesn't offer pickup for this deal, but Safeway/Albertson's/Sprouts do, which are much more expensive than Fry's. The stores also vary in markup and sales. I'll be checking the new weekly fliers tomorrow to see what deals here may be had this weekend.
