I'm not sure I'd pay $17 for those fans otherwise, along with what should already be a $300 CPU, but I like the slick deal move here to shave $5 off their list for the 270K Plus.

Yeah basically take $5 off to get the fansBasically $17 buys the fans and LEGO gameDon't wait for further price drop if you are trading in a 265k. The trade in value will drop as well when they drop the sale price

Probably worth updating your OP post. I've done a few 270K Plus builds for customers, and I think that's the most they've bundled in to get these moving. Next they'll be throwing in a kitchen sink.

Yeah, just bought another set with the free psu (though I won't use the psu for this build) and traded in my other 265kf.

Just finally rebuilt my old 15 year old PC due to the windows 11 requirement a few months ago with a 265 and 32 gb ddr5. Resetup my plex media server, VPN, and seeding. Running all this with an Ai model or two and Google earth, my ram was pegging out but now its my cpu is pegging 50-60%. I have the be quiet! Dark Rock Elite Air CPU Cooler | 2X Silent Wings 135m fan. Is the 270 upgrade worth upgrading to or should I really be upgrading to 2- 32gb ram.

Edit - forgot to mention I could probably use the psu. Mine was top of the list e 15 years ago, platinum 800w and highly modular. I imagine it's a matter of time before it bites the dust.

Now is a genuinely terrible time to consider doing anything about RAM, based on market conditions. It simply won't be worth the money or the marginal benefits. Additionally, if you already have two RAM slots populated and you're thinking to populate the remaining two to get the 64GB, that's a large negative on performance. You can look up why if interested - it has to do with DDR5 timings and signal integrity issues which will force it to run at a slower speed.

So my take is go with the CPU upgrade, it seems like a winner in all metrics.

The 270K is a beast. I'm driving close to 2 hrs this weekend to microcenter to get this processor with the 32gb ram and mobo for $550. That same ram is listed at around $330 at MC so overall it is a good deal. The mobo is good enough.

Yeah, I know it's a terrible time and I had been pushing my upgrade off for years. Worst part is that I was waiting until black friday for the deals unbeknownst the AI driven spikes had already started. Waited another 4 months after BF lol. Was definitely going to sell the 2x16 and get 2x32. It's 6000 cl32 ddr5, so I think I realistically need to optimize. Trade in for 2x32 5600 cl38 would cost me $300. I don't game anymore and am transcoding and heavy multithreading, so this was my first intel build. $100 is hard to pass up for the cpu boost. Just worry about issues being ironed out. Having a backup PSU on hand kind of makes it a no trainer though.

I think you mean $599 but yes I would do that for sure if I needed it.
My conundrum is whether to trade in my 265K even though I don't do much productivity work and gaming benchmark differences at 1440 to 4K are fairly insignificant.
