Amazing sale, but note that some of those in $10sh category were $5 on AppleTV last week.

edit: they are still $5 on Apple. Specifically, from the Japanese Criterion collection, also Haxan, Nosferatu (1922) few others, have not checked them all.

the david lynch set for 34.99 includes eraserhead, mulholland drive, inland empire, lost highway, and twin peaks fwwm. pretty great deal.

remember to get fandango gift cards (currently the $50 one is on sale at amazon for $40) and save a little more. worth it for anyone buying several titles.

Mind you...the David lynch bundle itself says its HDX, not 4k. Crappy behavior by FOH, even if 4k is available - they keep selling HDX versions Frown

Grabbed "Come and See" after having it on my Amazon wishlist for years not wanting to spend $15 on it because it was not MA.

I grabbed "Come and See" too. It's been on my Fandango wishlist for years.

Hoop Dreams is an interesting film. I've been waiting for the physical media to go on sale but I'll probably just score this for $5.

Ugh no MA, no go for me.
HBO Max has a good selection of the Criterion collection for people who subscribe to that streamer. TCM films also. No extra cost. Many people don't know that, you just have to search for the classic films.

And those on sale for $10 may be $15 on Apple. "Elevator to the Gallows" by Louis Malle with soundtrack by Miles Davis, for one.

Japanese collection is great, especially Cure, Kwaidan, and Ikiru!

Thank you for this info! I had no idea! Just searched "Criterion" and there are a bunch of them, including a couple I was going to pick up.

Elevator to the Gallows is not the best Malle movie, but the soundtrack is legendary. Not only because of Miles' music, but also because of the love story behind it. The whole soundtrack (twice as long, including the cuts and outtakes) was remastered in high-res and issued separately a few years ago. You can get it online for download.

Criterion's own streamer is incredible as well. A deep catalog that is constantly adding new quality titles. Less than $10/month on the annual plan and you will never run out of things to watch.

This is a good deal if you only care about the movies themselves, have no CC subscription, and are locked in the FAH ecosystem (which has gotten less reliable since Versant bought it).

A big reason to buy CC movies is the special features they curate with them.
