I have the weed whacker. I use a 9AH Ridgid battery in it with an adaptor. I have 3 acres, I've used the weed whacker about 4 years, It's one of the only tools I own of hundreds that I abuse. I have an Echo gas that I stopped using as the Ryobi is way lighter. Obviously it has a smaller cut but after an hour light weight rules. I have not used the Echo for 3 years. The thing works great and is somehow held up crazy good. I just yesterday replaced the plastic ground shield that removes to access line. It still was working, just scarred so bad I thought it break any minute. Best weed whacker in 35 years of owning them. NOW, I'm sure you can get way better, for for $59 bucks I paid, I doubt tit.

the string trimmer is a single string. Almost a toy. It works for small maintenance jobs. Cannot be used for edging.

18v is a joke. Just get a 40v or 80v unit.

Way lighter is the key with weed whackers. That's why I'm still using a 8 pound corded one until the motor burns up. Hopefully weights of 14" cordless ones will fall; if not, I'll get by with a 12" one.

The trimmer on this set is light use. I ran three batteries through it in a row working the yard, the standard 4ah batteries. And by the end, the motor overheated and grenaded itself.
Upgraded to the brushless whisper model and its been much better.

Disagree. I use it at least twice a week for edging all around a half acre lot. No issues.

18v is fine for 80% of people.
