From my experience and I think a lot of enthusiasts feel the same way, Creality is usually a great mid- to high-tier value option. But they're kind of 95% perfect: when they work, they're fantastic; when they don't, they can be incredibly frustrating, especially for beginners. Usually people can justify this because of the low cost, and relatively consistent print.

I am becoming more and more anti-bambu as time goes on. At first I loved them as they really pushed the market forward, but lately everything they do has been more and more anti-consumer and it is something I have trouble supporting even if they make good products.

Is this a good intro to 3d printing, or are there better starting points?

This is a good option and comparable to the Bambu P1S which is highly recommended. This is a little cheaper and comes with filament and easier return if needed

I have the ender, and first thing I learned was use other slicer software. Since then it has been good.

How is this compared to bambu P1S or P2S? I've never owned a 3D printer, but been looking at bambu.

I'm far from a Bambu fan boy but this is a printer where I have to wonder if it's better to get this or a Bambu P1S combo. They are basically the same price. By specs this is better but, if you are comfortable being part of the Bambu ecosystem, well that's an advantage. I know someone who has the large version of this system (K2 plus) and they are happy with it once they to the time to run calibration prints that dial in settings for specific materials. If you stick with Bambu materials this is something they do at the factory.

This is absolutely the better printer if you want to work 100% offline. Good UI, possibly better multi material system but the Bambu echo system (and maybe resale) make it hard to do this for basically the same price. If this were the larger pro or plus I would view things differently as the larger size is a significant plus.

Funny timing, my above comment wasn't meant as a reply to yours but it works. I looked at the P2S combo when making my post but it was someone like $750 so I decided it wasn't a clear price competitor.

I don't like the way Bambu both closes their ecosystem (in a way that may violate some of their open source code base) and I have to wonder what information they are gathering about me. However, they do deliver a compelling advantage when it comes to printing models off their well stocked, community sourced website.

I'm not saying this isn't a good deal but it's been this price since at least January.
Source: I bought this in January & it's been printing non-stop (~1K hours) 😁

I kind of feel the same way. I worry about them as a company and for that reason I'm reluctant to support them (kind of like Apple). However, I also have to acknowledge that, even if someone else makes a product that the the equal of a BL printer, they consistently make a good product (the total package).
