My only concern with refurbs is what battery life this will have.
eBay seems to have replacement batteries $31

This processor was released in 2020 and Intel had been in a very stagnant place for years. But a lot of the review of this device at the time were good so maybe it will hold up. Battery would be my biggest concern
CPU is fine, people people just running simple apps and browsing. The biggest problem would be battery and 8gb RAM thats non upgradeable

Can anyone familiar with this seller say what the "good" condition means for these refurbs as far as the condition of the screen and body?

Not feasible for people who aren't REALLY good with electronics repairing. This is way above the typical laptop battery replacement

In for 1. Thanks!

This is adequate for my cozy games (Steam) and it's much, much, much cheaper than the ASUS ROG Flow Z13 I had on my wish list.

Makes sense and agreed on battery and ram concens. But I also don't know why anyone would buy this over an iPad or Android tablet if they just want to web browse and use simple apps. Even for the screen size I think better options exist from Lenovo or used iPad pros

I'd be hesitant to get any windows machine with only 8gb of memory
Realistically you aren't going to be running any ram heavy apps on a tablet style PC nor deep multitasking. Windows 10 was shipping with 4GB for years. 8GB will be just fine if you delete any bloatware.

11th gen is plenty fast for everyday use. The real drawback with this is the 8GB RAM, which I assume can't be upgraded. Best bet is probably to install a Linux distro.
No hardware in a surface pro is realistically upgradeable for even moderate techies

I would guess the flexibility of being able to run windows apps.

My third cousin on my step-aunt's side had a Buick. It sucked. He got a used Honda, now 768,000 miles later going strong.

Yeah. I have older laptops with just 8GB and they've been running fine for typical usage (web, spreadsheets, word processor, etc).

With 8GB RAM this is a bit of a glorified tablet, TBH. Good for reading and browsing but iPad or Android tablet would be lighter, easier on battery and faster so I'm not sure what the use case for this would be. It is too underpowered for graphic design or development, even more so for games...
Agreed - if it weren't for the limited RAM, I wouldn't have thought twice about picking one up for using for Photoshop/Clip Studio Paint, but 8GB just isn't cutting it for that purpose. You could maybe just barely get away with that amount on a desktop with a dedicated graphics card, but since it's shared with the iGPU, and graphics apps need vRAM too...
The SSD is also tiny, of course, but that can be swapped out. The RAM, you're stuck with.
