This is not refurbished, it's used. Nothing has been fixed or replaced. Do you buy used cars or refurbished cars? These are wiped down and resold. Words have meaning, not nitpicking just facts. Ebay reburbished has absolutely no meaning at all. For all you know the previous owner had herpes and now it's yours. 🤮
LOL..now the goalpost is 3 miles down the street. #called it

"Do you buy used cars or refurbished cars"

Actually...many dealerships have both and thanks for accidently proving my point for me.

"Used" = Used = no warranty and no inspection

Certified pre-owned = Refurbished = have been checked over, repaired as needed (refurbished). And have a warranty...just like this laptop.

In 4 1.

Might make a good emulation/arcade system. Worst case a power hungry picture frame.

This is a killer deal. Windows on a tablet seals the deal. All this talk about iPad, it's not even comparable. iPad is extremely powerful but you can't do anything with it without paying for apps. Or install free apps with spyware.
With windows you are free to install anything.

Realistically you aren't going to be running any ram heavy apps on a tablet style PC nor deep multitasking. Windows 10 was shipping with 4GB for years. 8GB will be just fine if you delete any bloatware.
It's ridiculous how bloated websites are these days that just opening a few tabs in a browsers can suck lots of memory. Chrome is better at handling it than Firefox but even Chrome can have issues. Most websites today are bloated with ads and unnecessary crap. I miss the old days.

I don't disagree there but that ain't going to eat up 8GB of ram either....unless you have a dozen tabs open of said websites but I'd argue that's more user error.

*But that user may just want to have plenty of extra ram if they can't control their own behavior Wink

Not feasible for people who aren't REALLY good with electronics repairing. This is way above the typical laptop battery replacement
I don't know about the 7, but I replaced my Go battery a few years back. It wasn't any more difficult than replacing a modern cell battery. The most annoying part was replacing the adhesive. There are guides on ifixit and YouTube.

This CPU supports Windows 11 so you can just do a free update from 10 to 11.

I have a ThinkPad with the same CPU and it works just fine on 11.

that 229 better be saved to until you get extra 200 someday for a much better system. never buy cheap useless products even if you are in a tight budget.

So do you need to buy a Windows 11 key to make this useful? Does anyone know about how much longer Windows 11 will support these specs before they give you the forced EOL? Anyone change this to SteamOS or Linux?
Windows 11 update was free for my Surface Pro 7+

Some people may have something to say about the 8gb of ram.. I would guess they have never used this product and are going but general pc knowledge. I have personally owned two of the i7 8GB models and I was please with it every time. I used it for work and entertainment when I traveled. Far better than any android tablet and far more flexible than any iPad. The price point makes it untouchable. I would grab one if I had the need.

  1. Normal low-end price for a 5, 6 year old PC!
  2. Battery is NOT easily user replaceable (ifixit.com), so use warranty and toss at end of life.
  3. 5-6 year old PC = fine for Office, Web, YouTube, Chat, but don't expect a miracle. It'll work fine for such daily use.
  4. Get a refurb/used keyboard in good condition if needed. Usually 1/2 the price of a new one or better, and like all Surface Pro keyboards, toss when stained or torn from use (Alcantara polyester blend surface Can't be properly disinfected, stains do not wipe off).
  5. It will run all the claasic game emulators up to PS1 for sure, most PS2. Can run Android emulators, even macOS thru Hackintosh. So definitely the most flexible tablet type - PCs.
  6. Heavy vs a Boox Go 10.3 etc for ebook reading, so lap pillow/desk or tablet holder best for hours of reading.
  7. Horrible on a lap due to floppy keyboard design and ouchy stand design. Don't buy this for extended use on a lap. A dynabook x30 etc ultra light would be better.
  8. Businesses dump older surfaces each year. So this year $200-250 gets you a surface pro 7+, next year 8, 9 in two years etc... You can upgrade every 1-2 years for under $100 selling the old surface and buying the next model up used.

Thanks. That's why I'm hesitant on Windows tablets. Windows on ARM is showing promise so hopefully that continues to mature.
I'm waiting for Windows on ARM to mature or full Steam support on Android. Whichever comes first.

In the meantime, this Pro 7+ should be able to handle some light cozy gaming.

I do have a Steam Deck but the 7-7.4" display is a bit too small for comfort. I got a dock and portable monitor for the Deck but it's awkward to set up with a bunch of cables and multiple power bricks.
