with Apple Silicon, its best to buy the most budget or the latest offering, and this is a solid value if you want to trim your budget down for a solid everyday laptop, 16GB of ram is great. Depending on condition and silver doesn't show many scratches, Not sure if the M5 @ ~ $900 is worth it.

M1 still works really well for most things someone would do with an Air. Just be mindful that it may not receive the latest MacOS version soon. Apple tends to have a 7 year cut off(this is a 2020 laptop). You will still receive security updates though.

I am daily driving a Macbook M1 8gb. It's still light years faster than any Intel. I wouldn't dare photo or video edit on this machine but for coffee shop and office work its perfect as a throwaway laptop.
If its not in the shape you want send it back. Ebay money back guarantee, highly rated seller w/ free returns. I would consider this deal if I was in need of another spare macbook.

Still pretty expensive for a throwaway laptop. But don't be too rough with it or it might crack or you might start getting weird lines on your screen.
