Good luck getting 300 watts out of your car cigarette lighter. Does it come with a 25 amp fuse to replace the one in your car so you can do that?

These work, have two of them and have used them for 5 years, perfect for powering laptops and Starlink on 12v. Stand up to marine environments pretty good also, use them on my sailboat.

I have had the 500 watt version for several years. They work exactly like they are supposed to. Less than 1% distortion, will make the claimed 500 watts, and 88% efficiency.

Some newer cars do come with a higher amp fuse but I don't think I've seen anything over 20A. I do know some EVs can output a max 1400-1600w with their DC to DC converter (if hooked up to the 12v battery directly).

Edit: some newer vehicles are starting to push 48V systems. which would allow a higher wattage draw.

This seems perfect for me because my car's air conditioner died so I will use this to power a window ac unit.

Well aware, my car has a 20 amp fuse, still doesn't quite make 300 watts with the engine running but it's close. But I would also like to point out that these are 300 watts AC output, and that takes about 350 watts DC input to do that. I don't have this exact inverter, I have the 500 watt version and it's very good. It puts out every bit of 500 watts AC, the distortion is less than 1% at full load with a PF of 1 and the efficiency at 50% load is just shy of 90%. As with virtually all inverters, the efficiency goes down when the load goes up. It took 592 watts in for 500 watts out. Still respectable. If I knew someone who had this exact one I'd test it, but I have no reason to think that it wouldn't be similar. I would attach pictures of the meters when I measured it but for some reason it won't let me.

Only if it's hooked directly to the battery you get 300 watts. As landlord73 said , if you use the cigarette lighter you're going to blow the fuse.

For real. About 1% distortion at full load assuming a non reactive load. For reference, the 1/2 load output of my Honda EU3000is is about 1.1% and what comes out of the wall in my house from the grid is about 3.5%. But you have to test with the appropriate load. Very few inverters if any will produce a respectable sine wave into a highly reactive load, which is why the CEC says the load must have a PF of 1. If it let me I would upload a snap of the oscilloscope but it won't let me.

If it draws 20 A from a 12 V battery, that's 240 Watts. Even if it was 100% efficient, it isn't going to put out more than 240 Watts.
