This compact RYOBI 40V battery fan is best for portable airflow and long runtimes. It pushes more air than expected for its small size, has three speeds, and the high setting can run for well over a day on a large battery. The USB C port adds phone charging, and the hook mount makes it handy for garages, travel, craft shows, or drying out a cabinet after a leak. The main drawback is that high speed can stutter or shut off, and there is no clamp.

Common Questions (5)

Run time is very long: it can run 24+ hours on a full charge, and an 8Ah battery reportedly lasted 27 hours on high with one bar left. It is a strong choice if you want all-day use from older 40V batteries or need a fan for travel, garage use, or multi-day stays.
SteelRing SplendidBanana6138 swgfanforlife VisionJD
Yes. Even though it is fairly small, it blows above its weight and moves more air than expected, with the high setting described as pretty powerful. The 40V version also pushes noticeably more air than the 18V cousin.
SteelRing Tek34 SplendidBanana6138 swgfanforlife
Yes. It is portable enough for travel and hotel stays, and the long battery life makes it practical for sleeping with a fan on overnight or for multiple days away from an outlet.
swgfanforlife swgfanforlife
Yes, it includes a USB-C port on the side that can be used to charge a phone. That makes it useful at craft shows, travel, or other situations where you already have a 40V battery and want a small fan plus backup charging.
MattB8302
It sits on a flat surface or hangs from an integrated hook, and there is no clamp. If you need a clamp, the 18V version is the better fit; if longer run time matters more, the 40V is the better pick.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

FYI this is rather puny in size, but it blows above its weight. Also the 40V battery could power it for hours, probably easily 24+ hours at full charge. great if you have old 40V batteries that is no longer at its best performance for actual work.

no joke. I was in the store today and passed by one on the way to the bathroom. I did a double-take, thinking it must've been part of their 4v lineup

I'm going to have to check on this at my local Home Depot. I have a couple of their 18v fans but no 40v. I do have a bunch of 40v batteries for yard tools.

Can I attach this to the stroller to keep the baby cool on the job site? There's no way I can show up with the pink one we currently have.

I've found that this small fan, or its 18 volt cousin, are great for getting a fire going in a fire place. If you live in a place that still allows wood.

Used one of these to dry out our sink cabinet after a leak. Ran for over 24hrs on a battery (can't remember if it was 4ah or 6ah...)

I like it for staying cool in the garage. Does move more air than I expected.

Bought 2 of these last year around this time when they went on sale even cheaper than this. We use them when we setup for craft shows. Does a great job providing a good breeze when you're stationary. Plus they include a USB-C port on the side that you can use to charge your phone as well. Already had 40V batteries for the string trimmer and lawnmower. Probably wouldn't advise buying unless you already have the 40V batteries that you use for other tools as well.
