These work great for dead branches of 1" or live 1.5". I wouldn't buy one if I did a small amount of pruning, but in my case I cut hundreds on my acreage...one full battery will probably allow you to cut 200+. Price not bad but these can go for as little as $79

Like a one handed lopper. Cut large branch with this tool, while pulling branch away with other hand. Repeat. Super fast.

or at least include a 2.0Ah battery. The one with pole extension went on clearance for $165, $125, then $95

I got something like this... don't expect it to be as durable/well made as the dewalt, but it took dewalt 20v batts and is also a pole pruner and small saw.

Look on Amz for "4-in-1 Cordless Pole Saw & Electric Pruning Shears Combo for De Walt 20V MAX Battery"

I paid about $95 w/coupon last year..
when using the hand saw or pruner, I use a 2Ah battery. Last weeked easily 300 cuts, still had full battery. (lotta little 1/4-1/2" but a lot of 1" to several cuts on a 2")

When pole pruning or sawing, I put on a larger pack, like a 5Ah. Not for power, but to counterbalance the cutting head.

love it... no issues after dozens of uses, and 1000+ cuts easily with pruners. Saw I don't use much..maybe 4-5 times

I bought these brushless $49 copies which still cut through over an inch and a quarter of branch (30mm). Has all the same features, like double press to extend loppers, press and hold to close, and press and long hold to lock and it uses any existing dewalt or dewalt compatible batteries or any batteries you already have at a close voltage with one of those 5- 7 dollar adapters (makita - dewalt etc)

Swear by this tool! Bring it every year to our local Rose Garden pruning event and it makes quick work. Thousands of cuts on a single 2a light weight battery.

What goes wrong with your DeWalts?
I looked at the Milwaukee version and it looks bulkier, but if my DeWalt ever breaks I'll look at getting it even though it is a lot more. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwa...gl#overlay
