Great phone. I didn't like the curved glass at first but it grew on me and now prefer it. I have a POETIC brand case for it. Recommended.
have a poetice case as well.
the sides/edge are sill exposed and do not provide adequate protection IMHO.

i used a screen protector.
but lots of dust gets trapped.
i may try again the hydrogel SP

Currently using this phone as my daily driver and I have it rooted w/ LineageOS flashed on it. Bought mine brand new for $120 last year when Boost Mobile had their promo where you got the phone for free after paying for 2 months of service IIRC. So knowing what I know now, this is a hard pass for me.
agree.
2 years ago brand new for $120 is a great deal.
[i got it then as well & have been using as my DD for ~18months or so now ] although i dont recall needing to get more than 1m service

now in 2026 $260 for used is not worth it.
it will be obsolete in less than 1 year.
the average joe is not gonna do root, custom rom and such
and in my reading of the CR, many times they are more of a headache than anything else

My friend's phone has another issue—I'm not sure what's causing it. It won't upload videos to TikTok. It's not suitable for anyone who uses social media.
odd. i watch TT all the time, and it is great for that as well as other SM.
never UL a V to TT, so i can not comment.
ask ur friend to consider a factory reset to see if that fixes the issue

To be honest I don't have this phone yet with me (in transit) but for various others (other Motorola devices, pixels, older Xiaomi and Oneplus devices that support boot loader unlocking), I have been using official lineage OS roms from, believe it or not, past 10+ years (since it was called cyanogen mod). And as long as there is an officially supported rom and recovery available for that specific device, I have never had any major issues whatsoever with it. Having said that, it of course needs some hands-on experience with custom rooms, recoveries etc - YMMV. Not to mention, almost gives a huge boost to device usability with always updated OS, latest/nightly security updates, freedom from forced bloatware from manufacturers and a ton of flexibility in terms of features ( battery optimization, call recording, data pricacy etc, to name a few)

Still very happy with this phone. I debloated a lot of the apps using Shizuku and Canta. Still on stock firmware - happy with the Motorola UI and security updates every 2 months. It will get Android 16 this year but it will be the last OS update - security updates are TBD IIRC.

$120? I remembered paying around $95ish for it from Boost last September.

- security updates are TBD IIRC.

The Motorola Edge Plus (2023) is supported by a promise of 3 major Android OS upgrades (through Android 16) and 4 years of bi-monthly security updates.
As of early 2025, the device has received Android 15, keeping it current with software.

OS Updates:
Shipped with Android 13, expected to receive Android 14, 15 (now available), and 16.

Security Patches:
Guaranteed for 4 years from the May 2023 release date. [ending may 2027]

Latest Update (April 2025): [boost variant got it later around july/august 2025 IIRC]
The Android 15 update brings enhanced features, including expanded RAM boost (up to 16GB total), a creator toolkit, and improved privacy and security.

Support Life:
While Motorola is often slower with releases, the 2023 Edge+ maintains active support through 2027.

Note: The update schedule is "pending partner approval" and may lag behind competitors like Samsung or Google.

The vibration for alerts on this phone are almost non-existent, at least in the one I have. I wear a smart watch just to make sure I don't miss calls, texts, or alarms, because I can have the phone in my pocket and not realize I am getting a call, etc...without the watch vibrating on my wrist.

Yeah we hate to spoil it for everyone else but y'all missed out on the Boost Edge+ 2023 deal last year. I debloated my device with Shinjuku and canta as well. Only have charged three times so far. But I have so many phones. I'm considering selling that because I just like the Pixel UI more.
