I have been using this product for over 3 years now and it works really well. I spray both inside & outside all around the perimeter and it's does the job...lasts about 6-8 months

That seems to get great reviews. But, it looks like its at least 5x-10x the price. So, i guess it depends on how much you can afford to spend on the pests.
That's the concentrate, it comes in a 32oz bottle and only takes 1oz to make a gallon of insecticide. Much cheaper over time.

Ordered last night and was on my step this morning. Id think the transaction doesn't cover expenses. Ive used this for years. Its not a kill on contact but it does keep bugs away. I put down heavy around foundation perimeter and a barrier around all patios. When i hadn't put down id notice. Even gets rid of those annoying tiny red spider mites that love stone and concrete....trick with that is to spray all the cracks crevices where their eggs are....so if u have pavers, each paver. Tedious and time consuming but well worth it if u like to sit on steps in white pants before labor day. Just spraying surfaces doesn't faze them

Halfway through my other spray - perfect timing. Treat the parameter about every other month. Seems to help and hope this works as well. Thanks, OP!

first time homeowner, I asked Gemini if this is a good product to buy and it recommended me to use 'Atticus Talak 7.9% Indoor/Outdoor Insect Control' instead. It says Ortho Home Defense won't be effective.
ChatGPT answer:
Talak is basically a professional-grade bifenthrin concentrate, very similar to Talstar P. Ortho Home Defense is a heavily diluted consumer product designed for convenience. Talak contains 7.9% bifenthrin, while Ortho's ready-to-use formula is around 0.05% bifenthrin.
For somebody comfortable mixing chemicals in a pump sprayer, Talak usually gives:
  • stronger residual control
  • much lower long-term cost
  • better outdoor perimeter performance
  • better lawn and mosquito applications
For somebody wanting simplicity, Ortho wins because:
  • no mixing
  • no measuring
  • included sprayer
  • easy quick touch-ups
A lot of DIY pest-control users consider Talak/Talstar-type products noticeably more effective for serious recurring problems like:
  • spiders
  • ants
  • earwigs
  • perimeter insects
  • lawn pests
Community discussions commonly describe Ortho as "decent" but weaker than professional bifenthrin concentrates.
My practical breakdown:
  • Occasional bugs, convenience matters most → Ortho
  • Ongoing perimeter spraying, spiders, ants, yard treatment → Talak
  • Best value over time → Talak by a large margin
One gallon of diluted Talak can cost only a fraction of what the equivalent amount of ready-to-use Ortho would cost.
A few cautions with Talak:
  • You must mix it correctly.
  • Overapplication is possible.
  • You should use a decent pump sprayer.
  • Keep pets and people away until dry.
For outdoor perimeter treatment around a house, many DIY users mix Talak around 0.5–1 oz per gallon and spray:
  • foundation
  • door thresholds
  • windows
  • eaves
  • garage edges
  • cracks/crevices
That setup is much closer to what professional pest companies use.

According to the Key Features in the link, it is Pet Safe, but the same item with the powered spray wand states that it is NOT Pet Safe.
It is very confusing...
aint going to risk it then. I could never forgive myself if this stuff hurts my pets. Not worth it imo

I apply with a pump sprayer I put a tire valve stem in, and just inflate it to about 20 psi with my tire inflator.

No. Like a regular spray bottle, squeeze the trigger repeatedly to keep spraying.

I've used this and found it much more effective than straight bifen (usually buy talstar)

I do keep some of this ortho around each year for quick sprays if I don't feel like mixing and then flushing my sprayer
