Even useful to put in a safe to protect cash or anything that might scorch/burn as the safe heats up.

This is an in between between a true fire safe and nothing. Not every fire is a 5 alarm fire. Think of it like your seat belt, will it probably save your life in a 55 MPG crash, yep, will it save you if you get t-boned by a fuel tanker driving out of control and then pinning you into a wall before bursting into flames? Probably not...but I bet you still buckle up.

As long as you understand the use case, there should be no false sense of security.

These things are useless for true structure fires. Who cares if the bag survives? There would need to be an impossible amount of insulation for the documents inside it to survive. Same is true of this bag inside a fire safe. I can see a use case for these but don't buy one to give yourself a false sense of security.

You don't think this would protect money inside a gunsafe in a house fire? - Im referring to a cheaper stand up model not a real heavy gun safe - this is a serious question

I think this is more meant for a brief direct contact fire, not a long burn. Perhaps a quickly extinguished car fire, or a commercial fire controlled quickly via sprinklers. In my mind this is akin to a flame retardant oven mitt, it is only going to shield the contents so long but is far better than nothing.

That being said, insulated gun safes are only rated for a 'y' number of hours at 'x' temperature. However in my mind it couldn't hurt to add something like this if you realize you are only lowering the chance of damage, not eliminating the possibility of it.

*FWIW, when you say "gunsafe" I'm not sure if you mean a cheaper insulated model or a sheet metal 'cabinet' (Like a Stack On).

Seems decent for the price and some kind of basic protection for important documents.

The bag might survive (not melt) 6200 degree temperatures, but I'd be curious to know what the internal temperature reaches at 6200 degrees. Paper/money starts to burn at about 450 so I'm curious if I'd be opening a bag full of ashes.

It's time vs temperature, people.

6200 degrees is likely the 5 sec rating. 1550 degrees for 30mins is a "normal" fire safe rating. The point being, within 30mins hopefully the fire department has arrived and started to reduce temps. Water intrusion is also a valid concern. This bag says it helps prevent that.
