Got this set Christmas and been great. Very sharp out of box. Just hand clean and dry after use, so no rust. I also smear tiny amount of olive oil on then before putting them up.

I know it says they're forged but for the price I can almost guarantee they are stamped, you can also see the edge isn't tapering quite as much as forged blades usually are and the knife tang goes straight into the handle. So the 8 piece should be $20 or so

ChatGPT doesn't have a lot good things to say about this set:
They're probably worth it if:
  • you want a fun meat-cutting/grilling set
  • you cook casually
  • you like the rustic forged look
  • you don't mind hand-maintenance
  • you understand these are budget knives, not artisan blades
They're not ideal if:
  • you cook heavily every day
  • you want precision vegetable work
  • you expect premium Japanese/German steel performance
  • you want dishwasher-safe convenience
What you're actually getting

The set includes:
  • Serbian-style chef knife
  • mini cleaver/butcher knife
  • "Viking" utility knife
The marketing says:
  • hand forged
  • high carbon steel
  • anti-rust treatment
  • rosewood handles
That all sounds impressive, but in this price tier, "hand forged" usually means:
  • factory-produced blades with some hammer-finish styling
  • decent but inexpensive carbon steel
  • heat treat quality that varies from batch to batch
The good

They're probably very sharp initially

Multiple reviews consistently mention aggressive sharpness out of the box.
That tracks with this knife category:
  • thin-ish edges
  • softer steel
  • scary sharp initially
Great for meat and BBQ

These shapes are actually pretty good for:
  • trimming brisket
  • breaking down chicken
  • slicing steak
  • camping/outdoor cooking
  • board-side meat prep
Comfortable "substantial" feel

People tend to like the weight and grip on these.
That's important because cheap knives often feel flimsy. These usually feel chunky and satisfying.
Cool gift factor

As a Father's Day / grilling / camping gift:
  • honestly pretty solid
  • looks more expensive than it is
  • visually impressive
The bad

The steel is almost certainly mediocre

This is the main thing.
"High carbon steel" on Amazon can mean almost anything. At this price, expect:
  • decent toughness
  • mediocre edge retention
  • frequent honing/sharpening needed
Not garbage — just not premium.
Rust risk is real

A lot of these forged-look knives are reactive carbon steel underneath coatings or finishes.
You'll likely need to:
  • hand wash only
  • dry immediately
  • occasionally oil them
Several reviews specifically mention oiling and maintenance.
If you leave them wet overnight, spotting/rust is plausible.
Geometry is more "cool" than efficient

These Serbian/Viking profiles look badass, but they're not always practical:
  • tall blades can wedge in vegetables
  • tip work is awkward
  • balance can feel clunky
A normal chef knife is usually better for daily kitchen work.
