It is a knife, It cuts food. If gets dull you sharpen it. and repeat. Great food comes from great ingredients and a great palette, many of the tools we use are just tools. Doesn't a $8 hammer still get a nail into the wall? Tools.
A pro may need something that works in their hand differently because of the repetitive nature of their job, but for home cooks....get a knife, keep it sharp and cut stuff.
