DIY, if you have a flat foundation and can raise this. Don't build on grass.

I'll share about a different model from yardline I built with a friend for his back yard a couple of years ago.

-The quality of the 2X lumber provided is absolute dogshit. We had to replace about 1/3 of it and wait months to be reimbursed by the company. Be prepared to immediately break down and closely inspect everything on the pallets delivered and decide if you want to wait for Yardline to replace it, or foot the bill for replacement lumber and hope you get the reimbursement many months later.

-We found out much too late that the roof sheeting provided isn't cut square, and every piece was heavily warped. We had to to buy a galvanized steel piece for the peak of the roof because the sheets of OSB could either meet at the peak and be obviously off-square at the eaves, or square the eaves and have a gap at the peak.

-The primer on the exterior wall sheeting was chipped and flaking from delivery. You'll need to re-prime everything for even coloring.

-All the steel pieces (door locks, handles, hinges, etc.) had various degrees of rust. Again, be prepared to repaint them all.

It took two of us 3 8-hour days of labor to build it (12'x14'). I don't know if this unit comes with shingles, but be prepared, and factor into the cost if it doesn't, to buy tar paper, shingles, and roofing nails.

All in all you need to decide if the labor and hassle is worth the "savings" of the DIY build. A flat, stable, level surface is the single most important thing here. If it's not, you're boned from jump street.

Thinking of building this piece of garbage and living in it. At least it's a place I can call my own. Can I build it in the woods somewhere or do I have to buy property?

If someone builds a piece of garbage in the woods, does it make a sound and do people care?

There is no experience needed. You don't just slap something on the ground unless you want it rotting in a few years...

Yup, not only that you can get quality hardy board siding instead of this t1-11 shit.

Wonder what the material costs are for something like this vs buying the kit.

Stupid city ordinance wont allow me to run electricity to my shed, but they'll allow me to put solar panels on the roof and have electricity that way.

Also if you plan on placing this on the ground/grass, you'll want the plastic pallet/skids on the bottom for the ground contact, not the wood.

For comparison, I just finished my second shed, where I bought all the materials from HD. I sheeted the inside with bead board and built in 16" centers. Floor and floor structure all pressure treated. Five sets of 16" shelves. I used the LP Smart Sheet, which is supposed to last 30-40 years. Materials came out to about $2K all in. But the quality is higher. Even little things like using stainless steel brad on trim to reduce rusting, and a drip edging on the roof. To make it comparable to the 8X14 they sell, I could have removed about $600 in shingles, felt, and interior materials. Difference was you have to be confident in making trusses, framing, using a saw and willing to do more work.

This kit has LP SmartSide sidings, not T1-11. Much better quality.
