Ridgid's 6 inch jointer comes across as a solid, easy to use shop machine for small stock, especially if you want a brand new unit delivered free. The price is viewed as fair for new, and the machine is described as square, not too heavy, and a good home shop fit, with a Shelix head and mobility base as useful upgrades. The main knocks are the small 6 inch capacity, corded power, and limited spare parts availability. It is a practical short bed jointer, but the size and support limits matter.

  • Hobbyists doing light home milling, because it is described as a solid home-gamer machine that handles bench-planer use fine.

  • Woodworkers needing a compact 6-inch jointer for a small shop, because it is square, easy to use, and can be upgraded with a Shelix head.

  • Shop owners wanting a brand-new jointer delivered to the door, because free delivery avoids hauling and the machine arrives unused.

  • Woodworkers with limited shop space who want one machine to do both tasks, because this is not a true jointer-planer combo.

  • Woodworkers jointing long boards, because the 6-inch width is too small for lumber over about 36 inches.

  • People who need cordless jobsite use, because this jointer is corded and cannot be taken into a field or remote location.

  • Buyers needing easy replacement parts for a used unit, because spare parts appear limited and missing components may be hard to source.

IMO $1100 retail is crazy. $550 for a new unit is a pretty good price but I'd suggest looking for a used 6" jointer which can usually be found for way less than $550. They are fairly simple machines and as long as the beds are coplanar, not pitted from rust, and the motor works they're generally fine.
Agreed. 6" is pretty small and limited use for that price.

This isn't a true "combo" unit like they have in Europe with the planer below. They are just saying that anything you do on a face of the board is "planing" and "jointing" is on the edge of the board.
They have true combo planers in the states. This is where it's at if you have limited room. I'm thinking of selling my 8" Cutech jointer and Dewalt planer and picking up something like this. 12" wide with helical and is a true jointer and planer….

That one is way too small to do wood working unless working with wood 36" or shorter.

I wish I had more free time to justify buying this
This is what I'm struggling with. I haven't used any of my woodworking tools in like a year, but if this was last year I would have jumped on it instantly. Just no time for it right now.

This is a pretty good price for 2026.

Who remembers the days of this being $399 from Direct Tools Factory Outlet?

Pepperidge Farm remembers...

Got it for $350 in 2020. It's a solid machine.

Y'all be careful out there; my jointer is the only tool I've ever injured myself with. The fingertip regrew, but picking my nose will never be the same.

I agree. I also went bench planer and it works fine. Yeah it's not a floor model but it's square and easy to use.
