And it would suck if it dumped it contents (say from a camera etc) before one could.
The one in the Steam Deck worked fine until about 6 months in, when it started slowing down to absurd levels. Like 1-10mb read speeds, even slower writes. I thought, "maybe the file structure is just jacked up, and a reformat will resolve this?" Nope. A reformat took 5 minutes, and the speeds were still godawful. It didn't completely fail, but it might as well have. I swapped the 2nd working card into the Steam Deck and started using it, and sure enough, it too failed after 3 months.
I contacted support and they offered to replace them after confirming with the original Amazon invoices. I sent them the cards (paid 1-way shipping) and they sent me back 2 new cards a week or so later. Looking these things up on Reddit told almost the same story: If you write significant data to these and they heat up, they will fail. They get dangerously hot, enough to burn you. I believe what really killed these cards were writes / rewrites, like patches for games on Steam. I remember around the time the first card died, there was a significant patch that took over an hour to finish, and the card never recovered.
So be careful with these cards. If they get hot from extended writes, they WILL fail. I currently use mine in Android emulation handhelds to hold copies of roms that are mostly read and receive very few writes, and they work fine. If you're using them for an Android emulator handheld or Switch, they'll probably be fine. For the love of god, don't use these in a Steam Deck or handheld PC. The frequent patching kills these. I bought a Samsung Evo 1TB in October 2024 to replace these in my Steam Deck, and it's going strong to this day. The same for a Samsung Pro 1TB mSD I got 7 months ago. Those are rock solid cards you can trust. I'll never buy another TeamGroup card.
